Lol
Nice Rant! Really, I mean that. Well put and a legitimate take.
Meanwhile, I'm making payments and would actually enjoy a few things that the updates promise. Soooooo, I guess I am letting Ford of the hook so to speak, but I was tired of waiting. And there is a theory that once you unclog...
Thanks for this thread. Really, I mean that. Without it I might have thought only a guru should try this. But you laid it out so thoroughly that I felt plenty comfortable.
And yea, I never really thought you'd object to me sharing my exact experience.
Will do! (on the FRDS scan)
I do make sure that I have a Bluetooth connection to the truck before launching FordPass. But the ProPower page still says "cellular"
I had this feature back when I purchased the truck in May. I USED the feature several times. Then I noticed folks on this forum...
Soooooooo, unless I get censored from this thread, if you get stuck in the loop....... There is one more thing to try and it doesn't hurt to try.....
Turn the truck off BEFORE removing the USB stick. Then start the truck.
I'm only guessing, but having the stick in would imply that it would...
OK, nobody NOBODY is going to believe me. Ever never NEVER ever...... I'll probably get kicked out of the thread.... ???
But this IS what happened and I didn't imagine it:
So as documented earlier this morning, I couldn't get past the "restart loop". And I had tried every nuance possible that...
You fellas are encouraging!
I'm not giving up if Yaw ain't. :)
I'm trying a door closed, me out of the truck, and the Fob nowhere near it attempt this time.
I have been leaving the door open.
I thought that was suggested? Lol
I just finished the 30 minute door open with the fresh new usb
By the way, during the 30 minute wait, I DO hear the truck "clunk" twice. Once at about 10 minutes, and once again maybe 10 minutes later. It sounds like it...
Thanks fellas!
I did go fetch 2 brand new usb sticks to eliminate that possibility.
And I do have a charger on the battery. Note that the voltage has never dropped below 12.8v in FRDS.
My assumption that the USB stick was not the issue is that the truck almost immediately notices it and...
Well I had a good time figuring out how to take matters into my own hands. Discovered a mess of updates that my 2021 Powerboost Platinum was eligible for.
I decided to leave the BIG one(s) for last and promptly applied the other 11 updates. Piece of cake!
Then I chose that scary and...
OK, I never said I didn't believe you. In fact I absolutely want you to be telling it like it is.
But that image doesn't tell me who to do business with.
I'm trying to un-chump here good sir. :)
I think he has answered your question Jeb. :)
His frustration is understandable, of course.
Meanwhile my adapter should be here today, and although I'm not retired, I look forward to hanging out in the barn tonight playing Ford Computer Tech!
Again, thank you for the inspiration
This reminded me of a few years back when me and a bunch of other fellas on the Ecoboost forum were all trying to update our Sync 3 systems and mine worked first time but others wouldn't take. They all swore by using the same technique. Anyways, I shipped my Samsung USB stick to another inmate...
And the satisfaction of getting it done!
It's your truck and you CAN have it 100% up to date with the most recent Ford build features.
The fella that convinced me to did so by revealing that 7, SEVEN different modules were eligible for updates! Not to mention his dealership had ordered him a...
If you are willing to take matters into your own hands regarding OTA handcuffs....

I'm going to defend the poor mechanic that has been working at a Ford dealership for say..... 25 years and has fed his family and paid his mortgage by repairing water pumps, timing chains, rear differentials, valve jobs........ You get the picture.
So now the Service Writer submits the next...
This is why a few of us are "taking matters into our own hands".
I'm not suggesting everyone should, but these latest high-tech equipped trucks, especially the Powerboost, are simply beyond the current expertise of the average Ford service department. Early adopter risk!
The good news is...
All for about the cost your dealership would charge just to LOOK at your truck with FRDS
