That's even more interesting in the context of your earlier statement. When you read the multiple mpg threads for the Powerboost, while I admit that the variance is fairly large, don't you see that most folks are reporting substantially better mileage than you say you get with your 2.7?
I've...
If a Powerboost can equal a 2.7 in mileage, I would consider that as a good thing.
A fully loaded luxury yacht with 600ftlbs of torque AND a built in 7.2KW generator is impressive at 20-24mpg. (depending on typical usage)
I found it to be active on my 2018 KingRanch and I didn't program for it.
The only difference in my 2021 is that if I undo my seat belt and open the door with the motor running, it shifts to Park on its own. Obviously the 2018 was an unmotorized shifter and couldn't perform that task for me.
"Countless examples"???
Nobody here has left me with the impression that they believe "Ford can do no wrong". Is THAT what you are worried about?
And "if you can save just one person......"
You must realize that we are just here on a forum discussing a truck that runs on a battery, right?
Ax grinding at this point.
There are some number of every car that can stump the guys that are supposed to fix them.
True of Tesla
True of Mach-E
True of even a Toyota Corolla
Nobody is claiming that none of these cars are guaranteed trouble free.
But declaring Ford isn't building...
That's been true of the ICE F150 forever.
Or put another way, in pre-Covid inventory days you could buy 2 XL's for the price of a fully dolled up KingRanch or Platinum. Actually with huge discounts on XLT you could do the same.
Must be my brother from another mother?
Yamaha SuperTenere, KTM 500EXC, Porsche 987.1, Mazdarati (ND Miata), and my fabulous Platinum Powerboost.
I'd buy every single one of them again, but that doesn't mean I don't need my barn and my tools. :)
^ great points. :)
But this thread is no longer about its title. Like lots of threads, it has taken on a life of its own based on content.
I've enjoyed it. It's what forums are. Nobody really gets hurt, other than their egos that is.
So your advice is to wait until Ford announces the last year of production of a vehicle and snatch one then?
Sorry, couldn't resist. :)
Been buying Fords since 1976. I've been fortunate to not get a single bad one. I'm loving my current magic carpet ride Platinum Powerboost. 8 months and it...
He's just enjoying feeling good about his choice to purchase a diesel, but doing so by insulting every other F150 available.
His truck probably is awesome. A 2021 F150 Platinum, regardless of drive train, is an amazing ride. But the Power stroke is heavy, slow, and has the lowest cargo...
There's one fella on here that has the unfortunate experience of a Powerboost that has a serious ProPower onboard issue and the dealerships are of no help to him. The 7.2KW generator function was his main reason for buying the truck, so you can imagine his disappointment and ire, at this point...
Plenty. More than a few. = Massive.
Forums = perception amplification
I understand the phenomenon. But I don't think the reality in the field supports it.
I could be wrong but I'm not sure Livernoise is flashing the pcm. Or put another way, I don't think they are tuning the traditional manner that pre 2021 F150's would be tuned. I could be wrong.
That's a website error.
5* is really really good at tuning the 3.5 Ecoboost. And have done thousands.
But not the 2021. Not yet anyways.
And the one company that has cracked the encryption has just gotten started and they haven't even touched the Powerboost. It's probably intimidating to even...
I gotta believe that every generation or refresh of the EV F150 will extend its prowess. This is just a starting point. Current technology and value equation balancing.
I love the idea that I will be able to climb out of my current F150 and into the Lightning and my muscle memory will hardly...
It's that "Legacy F150" design that makes the Lightning FAR more appealing to me than the Rivian.
In fact, I had not really seriously considered an EV until Ford revealed that I wouldn't be required to embrace a StarTrek mobile to have an EV. The more F150 it is, the more appealing I find it.
I...
