Hey Tom,
I was out and about in my Lightning as well yesterday.
My truck has the OEM Hankooks.
Everything went really well, handling the snow drifts, the snowplow-created snow banks and ridges, etc. etc., until... about after 7 p.m. when the water that melted off the fluffy morning snow in 34...
FYI - switching outside mirror caps is very easy. You pull off the mirror glass with an angled trim tool and then unscrew three plainly visible Torx screws, and swap the caps, and then reassemble.
FYI the module flashing program I used for that fiasco wasn't ForScan but another pretty powerful program, also from Russia. I never used it again once the car was running and just don't remember its name.
For info: the BCM is the equivalent of a brain for these vehicles. I once had a bad experience in my younger days, flashing an incorrect version of a BCM software in my Ford Fusion, which also bricked that car just like Your truck now appears bricked.
The good news (if You can call it that) is...
Nice write-up, thank You.
I especially paid attention to Your notes on elevation changes.
Our now-gone 2022 Mach E Mustang's operating system would really underestimate, or rather not take into account at all, the significant increase in juice burn while climbing high elevation road passes...
A propos of nothing at all, this and related GOM mileage topics remind me of motorcycling across and up & down the USA back in the 1980s. Back then, motorcycle "range estimator" displays didn't exist, apart from a few laughable ones.
We all quickly learned to reset the odometer tripmeter at...
I remember this "silent mode" also known as "police car mode" is / was available for Ford Fusions / Mondeos and also for the Ford Mach E Mustang.
I'm pretty convinced the software control modules are generally similar if not the same across the Ford fleet. By deduction, this should also be...
Yeah I think that on our Lightnings the DRLs (at least on my trim) are the small rectangular lights in between the top and bottom LED projectors in each headlight. Makes sense that when their brightness is increased they would appear as small high beams, especially when cresting a small rise on...
The same thing happened to me when I increased DRLs to 50%. I then changed the DRLs back down to 25% and this seems to not piss off oncoming traffic while making my DRLs brighter for sunny daytimes.
FYI - I use this one, from AC Works.
FYI also - this outfit is in Wisconsin and actually has a pickup location somewhere in Wisconsin, to avoid shipping fees. I've used several adapters from them in the past. They are all very well-made...
I found it wonderfully informative when I bought an annual FDRS license and the associated equipment back in 2022, as it happened from a former Mach E owner who had sold his Mach E.
In the following year, as I updated my Mach E and some other Mach Es whenever I chose to, usually when the Mach E...
Of course I don't mind stopping every couple of hours. Neither does the dog. Neither do the kids.
I agree the Tesla adapter did make it a bit easier, except for West Virginia.
