Range, as in normal range, is determined by the standardized test the government uses.
What the vehicle will drive on that particular day is much different. The problem is, if Ford calculates the a tual range it can drive, based on things like previous driving, weather, wind, etc, then...
If you do take more road trips price the Tesla Membership. For me an a few others the cost was made back in one large charging session.
If you do purchase the membership do NOT use plug and charge, best even to disable it. Make sure to enable the charger in the Tesla app before plugging in.
Testing Regenerative Braking in Snowy Conditions
I recently had the chance to test regenerative braking in a winter storm, monitoring brake line pressure with my OBD scanner. Here’s what I found:
Normal Mode
When I first left the garage (with warm tires), the roads were covered in dense snow...
From those numbers charging in the Tesla app was the marked $.59 per kwh. Running the math and $32 for the 50kw charge would be $.65 per kwh, not unreasonable.
Best of luck. I had the dealership look into this issue for me, they even called in an aerodynamics specialist from Ford (supposedly).
Zero change
One wrench, one bolt (that you don't even take out), and two minutes later it was fixed.
If you want i could try and take a video for you.
Worth mentioning that engine braking is not recomended for slowing anymore and has not been so for a good 30 years now. Antilock brakes are so much more accurate and capable that the brakes are a much much better way to slow down.
From what I have seen the flickering is actually the truck testing if it is seeing it's own light.
All it is doing is looking for a bright white or red light with the camera above the mirror, from there it correlates the location of that light to the headlight and shuts that segment off. For...
Easiest way is to look at trims downward, not upward. Over simplification below, but the point stands.
Ford determines if a feature is valuable for a specific trim, model, location, etc. Easy one is the special audio stuff in the besonic (sp?) in the Platinum. If they feel that such a feature...
100%!!
With regard to range, I wish Ford would take the risk and try and build an trailer side range extender connection standard.
RARELY do I need the range. But when i do I would want to RENT a range extender. Something like a propane generator that can sit in the bed or on the trailer tongue...
No, the blue indicator is non-adaptive high beams. Just old school always on high beams.
When driving on an empty road try engaging the regular high beams (push the stalk forward iirc). There should be no difference between that and your glare-free high beams (they are the same).
The Ford...
Just like how GM uses 400v to drive, but 800v to charge, Ford certainly could update the pack to offer faster charging in the Lightning platform.
Frankly, IMO, Ford needs to worry less about T3 and more about the Lightning. They have a win in offering a regular truck, but as electric. Just...
Fwiw, degredation doesn't just, "happen", it is ALWAYS happening.
It's happening at 80% the same as at 100%, its just a little faster at 100%.
Remember heat is a big factor too. And with the cold temps that degredation is going to slow.
100% isn't really much difference in energy than 95%...
Edmunds compares the Lightning to the RST.
Happy to see the video, typically the new shiney thing gets all the praise however here I felt they did an honest comparison.
I have spent my entire life in states that get snow and have never once felt the need for a rear defroster on a pickup truck.
Frankly, I really like my Pro rear window. Nothing in the way when you look in the mirror, just a big clear window. My last truck had a power sliding rear window and...
