No, I just gave up and charged at a DCFC instead. I believe a inverter generator would be a better fit for charging our trucks, and I may invest in that at some point if I can also get a smart start on my AC/HeatPump so I can also use it for that.
And with that, the power is back on and Luna is drinking from the grid again. She did a great job helping us through the outage and she deserves a nite off!
Total time off was 1hr shy of a full 5 days and I had to charge twice at EA to make it through.
So, we are now on day 4 of no electricity and the truck has been great. I have been able to keep 2 refrigerators and one freezer running, internet/cameras, as well a handful of lights on the whole time. Heck, I have even been able to run our electric water heater multiple times for hot showers...
Tried the bonding plug and it did work for a few minutes then turned amber. I’m thinking the output is just too dirty/low voltage to run it.
I’ll look at the generator specs and see if I can adjust it.
Yes and neither worked, but I was able to use other things plugged into the outlets.
My guess is either the power is just too dirty or the ground caused it problems.
Has anyone been able to charge their Lightning from a generator. I was trying to hook up my mobile charge station up to a 10kw DuroMax generator to see if I can charge my truck instead of driving 30mins to a DCFC and leaving the house without power.
I tried both with and without the ProPower...
We had a huge windstorm come through yesterday and lost power all over the city, including my house. My neighbors tree fell and took out a pole, so it’s probably going to be a while.
Thankfully I was ready and had the cord layed out to switch to pro power on board. First time I did, it failed...
Another option to consider is the Dongar adatpter (https://dongar.tech/products/16pin-ford-f150). I have had it since I got my Lightning last July and its never had any issues powering my Dash Cam Mini.
Holy cow... 100k miles a year!
I took the Ford Protect plan out to 8yr/100k so that way my bumper to bumper matched the HV warranty, but I'm around 10-12k a year right now.
They are the same, both sides have BIS modules installed.
Here is one on eBay if you want to save some money. It’s super easy to replace and if you move your BIS module over, it doesn’t even need to be reprogrammed...
Here is an article if you want to get a better look at the new magic dock. Kind of a neat idea to just have an adapter that you probably have to put back in the slot or else it will charge you a fee...
Been there, done that. If you can find one on eBay and you didn't destroy the actual BIS module, you can quickly swap them for less money. I still have a spare BIS module, but they do require programming at the dealer to make use of a used one...
I'm no electrician, but you should probably verify the size of the wires from the panel to the outlet first. I can tell you that there is a difference between long-term sustained power draw versus a quick (less than an hour) draw of power as you would see with something like a oven or a dryer...
Finally got 4.1.2 last night, right after my wife got yesterday afternoon. The interface feels so much smoother and I love the shortcuts at the top of the screen. Overall VERY happy with this update, and in case Ford is listening, I would love to be able to add a another shortcut to the top of...
Still no 4.1.2 (or 4.1.3) for me... I've tried most incantations listed above, maybe if I do a handstand in the frunk while the radio blares Eminem tunes? I'm running out of ideas at this point. :D
No, I got sidetracked on other projects and haven’t really looked at it much more. My last point was starting to sniff the traffic between the FCSP and the internet to see if I could at least see the api endpoints it is sending data out to, but it was all encrypted and couldn’t gather much...
