I would rather they just stick with basic hybrids and pure EVs. All of the data coming out on plug in hybrid vehicles is that almost no-one ever bothers to plug them in and they end up getting worse efficiency than a non-plug in hybrid, sometimes even worse than the pure ICE variant as well.
Not sure where you got that 5,500lbs figure for the Lightning. My 2022 ER Lariat is ~6,800lbs empty and the Platinum is heavier (~7,000 if I remember correctly)
Absolutely! I don't trust my electrical skills enough to do that work myself and when I had it quoted, the Generac transfer switch was close to $4k installed by an electrician.
I ended up just investing in some very good extension cords to power critical loads from the 120V outlets and that...
I was thinking of lax standards and ignoring safety issues due to schedule pressure, but yeah - sabotage is a real concern. I wonder if this plant supplies any defense contractors.
Well that isn't good. Beyond the impact to the automotive industry, I have to be concerned about the conditions at the plant that lead to repeat fires.
I like to roll the dice. A little over 3 years and 47k miles in. Parked outside in the heat and cold. Still on the factory 12V battery with no issues. My wife is the same at 4 yrs and 57k miles on her Mach-e.
Eh - A Maverick is significantly narrower than an F-150, which is a major selling point for a lot of folks. Much easier to park and drive on narrow roads.
Honestly - NY is getting pretty close to that, if not better. EV chargers being installed at all thruway rest areas. They are directly off the highway (no exit) and spaced about every 30 miles. Some are still under construction, but it will be very nice once done.
How did you check it. The only way I could think to would be to have someone video it while I was driving. Nothing is jamming it that I can see, but I also can't move it by hand (not sure if normal or not).
Overall for the trip down was 1.6 over a little less than 200 miles. During a slower speed section 55 to 60mph, efficiency increased to 1.8. I will check the tire pressure as soon as I can find a gas station on the trip home later today. Maybe that it is. Never had efficiency impacts this big...
