I have done it in tow/haul and in normal. Really didn't note much of a difference, so I just leave it in normal now. Even at Max payload, the truck barely feels like it is carrying anything.

I had something similar happen when GPS went out in my truck. Try looking at the onboard navigation (not android auto / carplay) and see if it is showing your location correctly.

Unless you are talking about the Raptor 'R', the Lightning is significantly quicker off the line and in the quarter mile. Slightly lower top speed though.
