Regarding polling over which version will be easier to get: Since battery supply is going to be one of the bottlenecks for Ford, I’m pretty sure they’ll prioritize SR builds. More trucks sold that way = more$.
It’s called progress. Humans are really good at it. It’s not as scary as some would have you believe. All the goals you outlined will be accomplished over the next decade.
Explain to me, computer savvy fellow posters: I just got the e-mail from Ford, and when I clicked the link at the end to get more info, it took me…..to this discussion??? Edit: explain to me also why I lack reading comprehension and thought that the email from this forum was from Ford……ooops! No...
Re: shifter—not sure why they don’t just stick a dial on the dash? Or EVen make it a app for your phone? It’s not like there’s still a mechanical connection between physical shifter and, um, “transmission “. Form is supposed to follow function, and while there used to be a reason for the shifter...
I liked that too, but unfortunately I think it just means Ford isn’t done setting it up yet, and that price is going to go to above 50K. Surprise me, Ford, make my day!
No worries. Ford is a big enough company, has been in business long enough, and has enough riding on the Lightning that they will proceed exactly as planned and announced. We’ll place our orders soon, and some of us will take delivery next spring. Patience!

I have to second your last point. I’m certainly not an EE, but it’s hard for me to understand why these chargers would have lots of issues. Everything electrical at my house? Always works. Home EVSE? Always works. Credit card reader at gas pump? Always works. Maybe just teething issues, bound to...
They could just price the Platinum at 80K now. Then, if BBB comes in with a (somewhat) lower cutoff price, they could pleasantly surprise folks that ordered Platinum by dropping the price accordingly. Just wildly speculating of course.
It’s understandable that they’re doing it, trying to maximize $, but I agree that it looks a little shady. At least at some point they’ll have to release the configurator so they can start planning their production runs. They should already know that waiting on congress to do its job is….going...
Certainly on the higher trims. Not so much on the Pro. As they add more options they also increase production line complexity, so there’s a point of diminishing returns for them in there somewhere.
Ford won’t change the already announced pricing. Reputation and all that. They’ll just make it up on the other trims and upgrade options where they left themselves plenty of wiggle room by not announcing anything yet.
Appreciate your concern re Dem election prospects, but let’s not forget that everything that’s in BBB is the exact stuff that Biden/Dems ran on last year. And won by a landslide, so I’m not too sure about this political suicide thing. We’ll see soon enough.
Exactly. Always gotta leave some room for negotiating so you can still get what you really want in the end. And, IMHO, the EV credit is one of the less important pieces of BBB for our society overall. A “nice to have “.
