Sorry let me rephrase the question...
Does updating the PCM also reset the shifting tables, which is why the shifting feels better/smoother? Because if yes, that means that, by itself, updating it isn't going to be helpful.
If no, then that's great news because it implies there's newer...
The dealer won't do this.
ForScan is software that uses the ODB2 port to hack your truck. In many ways, it's a very powerful tool.
Turning off double honk is a very popular usage. It's well understood at this point, so it's safe to do and doesn't require too much technical know how to...
My big issue on this is that someone can still break open your window and fish out the key. They could even straight up drive off. Not as likely at a campsite...but it's the principal of the matter. At least with the key on my person, they are gonna need to open the tent where we can have a...
There's not really a camper mode, although there should be.
Some things I've done:
1. Use Forscan to turn off Double Honk.
2. Purchased the "backup noise sound delete" device from @WillB17
Note for the above: It's a unique brand of embarrassment, pulling into whisper quiet state park at...
I don't think this is a bad thing....if you watch this:
There is a TON of room for improvement. From what it looks like, Ford can both save money and make the system more reliable.
There's a whole thread on this:

When I was 16 and got my license, Mapquest had just came out. All that time my dad took to teach me how to navigate via a road map, compass, and highlighter was immediately discarded by me.
Those skills will need a significant revamp of those GPS satellites ever disappear one day...
LOL I've had that happen. I've had Apple Maps try to route me through a one way street...where I was going the wrong way...
That being said, the last 5 or so months I haven't had that same experience. Google Maps benefits from the enormous amounts of detailed mapping data that Google gobbles...
I've recently noticed that when I tap "View OTA API Info" in the debug menu, nothing comes up and it just simply brings the Debug menu back up. Almost as if at some point in the last few days Ford has blocked access to it.
Is it just me?
Apple Maps has made a lot of progress as far as software is concerned in the last 2 years. I feel that in some ways it's starting to overtake Google Maps. It certainly helps that it integrates now with my truck in ways that Google Maps does not.
Mine updated today after taking my truck in for the heatshield/driveshaft recall. The dealer told me that they had to fully discharge the HEV battery before they could proceed.
When I got my truck back, was pleasantly surprised to see that I was on the latest version:
Also, my 8'' dashboard...
I run Michelin Defender LTX M/S (275 /70 R18) E rated tires on my truck. I've experimented a lot with pressure, and have found 40 to be the sweet spot when I'm not towing. Much more than 40, the drive becomes very unpleasant...I can feel literally every rock on the road. Less than 40, the...
