If you unlatch the seat and fold it down, you may need to move the floating latch bar to align with the latch before it will latch back again. It can be a bit fidgety to get it in the right place since it is hard to see.

It is easiest method is if you have the seat in exactly the same position as when you unlatched it (usually up because that makes it easier to access the latch.). If you have the seat down, you need to move the latch bar to line up.
That is the key to the whole thing......before trying to re-latch the back up, you need to make sure the seat back and bottom are in the same position they were in when you unlatched it.....because of the sliding latch bar.

Tried that multiple times. Even removed the adapter and put everything back to original (had no problem latching correctly then) and noted where the sliding bar would be when the seat was down.

It seemed close to latching but would never latch completely with the adapter. No fiddling made any difference. And like I mentioned, I wasn't willing to take the additional steps they mention in their FAQ/videos.

I gave up, removed it, and it relatched first time.

Maybe if I decide to upgrade the sub/amp I'll repurchase it and try again.

That latch is fiddly-farty at the best of times. Even before I installed the latch pull, it took quite a few tries to get things lined up, and then it takes quite a slam to get it to latch properly. Adding the latch pull didn't make relatching it any easier; it just made unlatching it much easier. I rarely use it since there isn't much space back there once you put the seat up. I have a trailer wheel wrench tucked back in there in case I need it, but I wouldn't put anything back there that I would need on a regular basis.
