So I've driven the truck on 2 of my longer usual round trips now. I do this drive 3 to 4 times a month. About an hour each direction and 95% highway.
My mileage on these last two trips is the same as it ever was.
Zero change in economy.

I’ll add to this as mine succumbed (second time!) to a piece of tire. Got to my destination hoping to also find just the tire stuck to the truck but the right side was damaged and dragging (again!).

I had it replaced by dealer the first time, if I can recall for about $900. Since this is the second time it’s happened, I was able to remove it with a friends wrench before leaving my destination for home and don’t plan on getting it repaired again. Especially considering the OP’s experience of no efficiency change.

It would be nice to have an in-truck control to choose deploy it or not but not sure that would help with the random chance of coming across a tire carcass.
