Ford should have continued with the BEV Lightning and offered new battery technology on next year's models that would increase the range. More range is the greatest desire of all Lightning owners.

Ford should have continued with the BEV Lightnings, and they could have produced the EREVs in the same factory. Remember, the Lightning is built on the ICE platform to begin with. Most of the bolt holes are already there for mounting an engine.

Ford customers would let Ford know which platform they desired most. And, I can tell you the answer now.... Both trucks would help one another capture more of the total market share of trucks.

Ford missed an opportunity to show the world it produces the best trucks and gives its customers what they need. As it is now, they look chaotic with a plan that's not well though out.

Whatever company produces a BEV full-sized truck that is reasonably priced, and gets a solid 500 miles of range, wins. The name on the truck doesn't matter.

EREVs will likely win the towing business. It's hard to put a big enough battery on a truck to satisfy the demands of towing.
On the flip side, the daily driver guys don't want to put up with an ICE. We've discovered the better life. It will always be BEVs for us..... always.

Ford needs of offer both the BEV and EREV to satisfy market demands.
real easy to say"..new battery technology on next year's models that would increase the range. More range is the greatest desire of all Lightning owners." when you don't have any idea of what it will cost. Those that actually design and build the Lightning realize that there is nothing out there to make a significant change in range or charging speed and still lower cost significantly. Ford could have made money if they could have reached 150,000 trucks per year but the reality was/is that they fell way over a 100,000 short.
