I know everyone who was able to order is very excited. I wish you all the best of luck. But for those of us who didn't make the cut, has anyone heard when the next timeline is for orders? I know I basically have to just wait and see. The Ford Email said " all invitations to order a 2022 model year have been sent. We expect invitations to order future model years to begin this summer." But that was about 2 months ago. Any update since?

Ford loves to be vague and it loves to try to keep people on the hook as long as possible. I think it will be interesting to see if they allow for orders early with very long wait times for build dates (similar to the Bronco) or if they will do a gradual roll out and only take orders in phases.

The email to me that says " We expect invitations to order future model years to begin this summer" allows them to be incredibly flexible. That's not a guarantee that I'll get an invitation, but they still get to send me the email suggesting that maybe I'm part of that group. And then give no information about what an invitation to order in the summer would even mean. I ordered my bronco a long effing time ago and still don't have it.

Knowing how critical the LIghtning launch is for their future, I'd say Ford will notify reservation holders as soon as they know how many can actually be built in the midst of parts / module shortages.

I am wondering how long Ford will take to fill all the 2022 orders first....

Summer is when they will begin accepting new orders. How they do these orders, whether in waves, or not, is of course TBD.

Also keep in mind that with 200,000 reservations, a good many of those will not get to order until the 2024 model year.

Well my dealership had 730+ reservations and only ended up getting 5 MY 2022s, so I'm not holding my breath. But it does make it hard to plan. I'm supposedly 14th at my dealership, so I would think that they would get 9 more for the 2023 year, but for all I know they won't, or maybe they will but I won't take delivery for another year or so. I think I understand the business reasons for Ford it this way, but it's kind of crappy as a customer.

You'll get a 2023. They'll make 80-100,000 of that year.

I think that's probably right. But there is a big difference to me between getting a 2023 in December of this year and getting a 2023 in Summer or later of 2023.

You may want to change your reservation over to a high volume & high allocation dealer.

My dealer had received 50 MY'22 Lightning allocations.
I got lucky on a 2022 because one customer decided to extend their reservation as I was a second day reservation holder....

My workplace buys tons of white fleet (XL trim work trucks, Class B trucks, base vans, etc) from them which is why I knew I'd better go with them - plus they don't charge ADM probably because they do so much volume that they are happy with 10% profit at MSRP ?

You are in California right? You see, Ford completely screwed over customers in States like mine in favor of States like yours.

I would rather get a 2023 job 2 vehicle, i.e. made in the 2nd half of the model year. Why?

- 2022 is low volume. They'll be learning.
- 2023 job 1 will be the "fixes" they learned from 2022.
- 2023 job 2 will be the reaction to the fixes from job 1.

I say this because I have a job 1 2021 Mach-E, and just now got the promised BlueCruise, and have been into the dealer a few times for updates. Job 2 2021 Mach-Es have had less issues. Therefore, Job 1 2022 Mach-Es (I have one coming in any day) will be better than the 2 previous batches.

Just announced by Tim B at Long McArthur Ford (dealer in Kansas) confirmed there will be additional 2022 MY allocations presented to dealers to fill.

Apparently there are extended and unconverted order invites.

So all hope is not lost for your MY'22 Lightning.

Remember, only the Lariat and Platinum trims will be available for MY'22.

Well, I didn’t get an invitation (along with a lot of you) in spite of early reservation. My dealer (Morris Ford in Burnt Hills) has been ZERO responsive with the exception of my May 2021 email ā€œthank you for your reservationā€œ message. Even though I am a small business owner who would be advertising/promoting the Lightning and their dealership…..I think FoMoCo has dropped the ball with ā€œrealā€ customers like myself and others like me and has put their energy into media influencers.….

I have had good luck so far with Metro Ford in Schenectady. didn't think I would get a 2022 truck, but ended up in the 4/12 wave as a complete surprise. They are a bigger dealer so I think they go more allocations.
