I was referring to the backup batteries offered by the Dashcam manufacturers, like this one:Most high end dash cams don't use batteries, they use super capacitors. Unaffected by temperature and they're only there to maintain video integrity on for a few seconds during shut down, nothing more. The power source for all of them is external.

Most (all?) of them are LiFePO4 based and at least the one I had (the B130x above) is smart enough not to charge it when it's cold out, but it never warms up enough to charge it during a 30min commute so it'll run out pretty quickly and you're left without a backup / parking recording.
