I have not seen anything on the outdoor charge stations near me - whether at shopping centers, car dealerships or parking lots that are not heavily used. I am planning to install my charge station on the exterior of the west side of my house. Fortunately, that side of the house does not get the early morning and mid-day sun.
You are much more likely to get rodents chewing your HV cables in the truck. Freind of mine has had a hybrid and two EVs repaired multiple times (one totaled) due to rats. He never had a problem with the uber insulated charge cable, which may have deterrent chemicals in them like service entrance cables do.
Rodents detest the smell of peppermint. A little bit of peppermint essential oil on cotton balls placed around the vehicle should keep them away. As a side benefit, it smells good.
Good read on why rodents eat more wiring now-a-days. A buddy with a Civic Si was telling me this and I thought he was just over paranoid, but he was right, wires are tastier to rodents now!
