I normally charge at home... and I have a Tesla so I am familar with the charging format. I took my 2nd roadtrip and couldn't charge...

But let me back up, a few weeks ago, I used the Tesla supercharger network. 1st time.... no problem. 2nd time on the way back it wouldn't charge. ERROR I kept getting, So I found a electricify america charger and charged up. Easy...

This time I needed a few more % to make it home and did the same thing.... Tesla, No Go... ERROR. Tried 2 charged. Electricify America wanted me to sign up, So I did but then it billed my credit card. Last time this just worked via blue oval network. What am I doing wrong? I paid a crazy 60 cents a kW but had no other options.

I'd like to figure out my issue and fix it. Help!

2 things come to mind.

1 - Your adapter is bad. It shouldn't be, but if you can charge at EA, it's probably not the truck. Not sure how you test that, unless you can find someone local to you who has an adapter. And it worked the first time...
2 - Not all Tesla chargers are open to Ford. So make sure in the Tesla app it says 'Adapter or NACS Port Required'. We can't charge on any V2 chargers and some people have had issues with V4's, but that doesn't seem consistent.

Good luck. Keep us updated if you find out the reasoning.

Check the FordPass app before you head to any Tesla charger to see if it's compatible. Incompatible Tesla stations will be marked as "Station Not Compatible" so avoid those. At compatible Tesla stations, you should be able to just plug in and charge with your BlueOval Charge Network account, but if that doesn't work, you can always use FordPass to pay for the charge, just like you can at all 14 in-network partner networks (the vast majority of all chargers in North America).

You NAILED it.... Yes I am using the FORD OEM adapter.
So I looked up the charging location on the TESLA site. And it is for Tesla's Only. I went to the one that I know worked in Madras Oregon, And it has a different ICON and says "Adapter Required for All EV's"

So my follow up question: Why didn't the electricify america charger just WORK when I plugged in. I see that is says it is IN-NETWORK. I had to do a payment method and all that crap seperately. Never did that before

Is Plug and Charge turned on in your app?

Why didn't you simply activate the charger with FordPass?

Unfortunately your frustration is 100% due to lack of knowledge. When you get up to speed, frustration is gone.

Eh, no - it can still be frustrating. I forgot to charge the truck (my wife was driving it and I was in our old gas pickup) so I went to a fairly new charging station across from the Safeway in Anacortes. Total failure! Spent time on the phone with somebody from India reading a script. Unhappy wife! Your job to plug in the truck! We gave up after wasting quite a bit of time. It seems that it used to be a Shell Recharge that turned into an EV go and didn’t work with either.

Fortunately there is a really nice Tesla station with a decent brewpub nearby within the 60 miles that I had left. Happy wife again.

Plug & Charge is indeed on.

I don't recall having to do this the 1st time I charged. Yes could be my fault.... I think the App is horrible, but then again I am used to the Tesla App. So apples and oranges. I expected this to be like the Tesla where I just plug in and it starts charging. But I get it... it's a 3rd party network.

EA is indeed plug in and it starts, as well as Tesla, unless you were in Canada where EC isn't Plug & or Charge.
