I meant the 12v cigarette lighter port. Tap tap and you're good to go.
I've been searching for a way to remove the 12V panel, but I haven't found one online. Any idea? I'm pretty nervous to break it -- tried a pry tool a bit but it really doesn't seem like there's a seam I can get it into.

Did you ever complete your design?

Almost but not fully yet!

I've successfully found a 12v-USB converter and magsafe charge that work successfully with the harness behind the coin holder, and tested it. (Not all the converters work - some work but then fail when the truck is turned on/off).

I'm in the process of trying to design and 3d print a snap-in mount that will hold the magsafe holder. Hoping to be all set in the next month or two, so maybe check back then!

(PS - I also found the fuse for the trailer brake controller and replaced that...., since in the course of my tests I accidentally shorted power to ground.... Lucky there's nothing else on that fuse that I can tell!)

Curious how to get that coin holder off? I have a 25 Lariot Trim.

I tugged on it moderately, but no joy.

What color wires did you tap into?

hey guys -

I've removed my coin holder following others great posts (like this one), and am modeling my own snap in connector to connect to a magsafe charger.

I'd like to find an accessory power line inside the dash I can use, so there's no external wires. So, I have 2 questions:

1) Is there a name/part number someone can help me with for the female socket to the unused trailer brake harness (the plug just sits dumbly behind the coin holder)? I'm hoping there's power in there that I could use, but I'd rather not cut the wires or plug to tap into it)?

2) If not, any tips to find a 12V or acc power line I could use, through the coin holder hole?

Thanks!

I think you’re way overthinking it. Do what this guy did. I bought one from him. Works great.

Very nice!
How about an adaptor that terminates in a ball mount, such as use by Garmin and other Qi wireless chargers?

Thanks for the detail on the trim piece.
