Has anyone here used the Ford cargo net before, part number GL3Z99550A66A? I was looking for something that could hold things down in the bed that goes higher than my tonneau cover (firewood comes to mind).

I can't tell if this net would work or not. It looks like there's a drawstring to pull it tight down, but I didn't find much on it. If anyone has one or had one and has opinions on it, it would be appreciated.

Have the vertical not the horizontal, but they look similar in contruction. The webbing is very thin cord and even the structure cord around the edges is not that heavy. The both say "lightweight" loads in the description. Don't believe stacked firewood would be appropriate.

For bigger loads I use ratchet straps similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/Ratchet-Tie-...ARC&keywords=B01F7KSAGI&qid=1646761235&sr=8-1

If numerous odd shaped objects I cover in heavy tarp then strap.

I have a set of ratchet straps already, as well as bungee cords, rope, and paracord. I don't need the net to keep anything from moving, just from flying out of the bed. I've seen people with similar nets before, but not sure if it was the same. Harbor Freight has some as well, but there are huge openings in the ones they have, so I wouldn't trust it with smaller items.

I got one of these for the same reasons as you. Keeping junk down and secured if higher than the tonneau cover.

Thank you. That's what I was looking for. For some reason, it didn't open in the Amazon app, maybe because the link pointed to the Canadian site? I did find the same net though using the app, and found they also offer it in orange with slightly different (better) carabineers. I saved it to my wishlist for now, but will definitely order it this spring.

Yeah I have problems every time someone posts a US link, makes me try to switch stores. Amazon isn't the most border-friendly website lol

The one I got came with a TON of carabiners which I'll never use all at once. Don't have 50 tie-down points in the truck, so I figure I'll use them as I need and just discard if they break. They don't feel like cheap quality though, I think they'll last under light loads just fine.

Most "nets" seem to only use cheap bungee cords. as such, they are not good to be very useful for actually holding anything heavy. I have seen too many cases where someone uses bungees when parked and never realize that they are breaking as they drive at 70mph. the good nets are the military grade ones. like from "LoadTamer" cargonet.com with 300-1000lb rating for the cordage used. or just use quality rachet straps and forget bungees forever.

If I needed something to hold 1,000+ lbs in place, I wouldn't be using a cargo net. I want it to hold stuff in the bed without flying out, it didn't need to stay in place completely.

As an aside, I got the cargo net I ordered in yesterday and it looks really well made. The carabineers included have a screw lock on the latch so they can't accidentally come undone. I haven't stretched out out yet, but it looks like it'll accomplish what I need it to without an issue. Now I just want to get stake pocket tie downs for all 4 corners of the bed.
