Okay so after doing a bit of research on the Ford Manaquin program (never heard of it before) it looks like the in-service date is when the vehicle enters the program not when it is sold when it comes to warranty timers. Although apparently it is still considered a new car when it comes to things like the Federal rebate (when it existed). Its one of those read the fine print gotchas that Im sure your average dealership wont go out of their way to inform you about. The Ford extended evcare warranty is pretty comprehensive from my best attempts to read the fine print when I bought it. There are of course always exclusions for things like what they consider wear items. The main traction battery is the biggest exclusion so you are limited to the 8 year 100k miles factory warranty. There are non Ford thid party battery warranties for the main battery however but they are not cheap.Oh, wow. I didn't think about the original in-service date affecting the 100k/8 Year battery warranty. I'm probably the only person on earth that will hit 8 years before I hit 100k miles, too. The warranty issue didn't come up until several months after I bought it and saw that my free trials (enhanced nav, Blue Cruise, etc.) expired before they should. I reached out to the dealership and they said because it was a demo (part of their "mannequin" program), these services began before I bought it, but that when the time came they would extend them for me. Then the question of the warranty came up, and they said they would d buy me an extended warranty to cover the lost time (and they did). It was sold as new (sales paperwork and original web listing for the truck both s soaid new). I always believed the first time a vehicle was titled was when warranties kick in, but I guess, at least in the case of the mannequin program, that this was not the case. Not sure how to handle it from here. I do remain interested in a Granger warranty, though I haven't hear back on my above post requesting information. Sounds like the extended warranties might not cover all that I was hoping, however, so I may not be keeping the truck as long as I'd originally planned....
