It’s not a free market when they are actively banning the sale of Chinese EVs in America.
The heavily government subsidized cars built with cheap labor would destroy US and Canada auto makers in short order. Just like what has happened to most all manufactured goods.

"Government subsidized"

Its almost like they figured out how to position themselves for the global market.

Oh well, the only reason the US had EV subsidies was to save the planet.....

Yea, the US subsidizes oil companies without regard for the consequences to the land, air and water, or the health or humans and other animals on this small inhabitable planet with no acceptable substitute suitable for our survival...what could go wrong?

I'm truly worried for Ford. I don't think the bean counters know where the money comes from. Bear with me. The original Midway Airlines was my employer. The MBAs, accountants and management saw that our flights to the Virgin Islands were loosing money; so they canceled them. Turned out our best customers, business flyers, were flying Midway because they could use frequent flyer miles to vacation in the islands. Naturally they looked elsewhere. The end came quickly.

A new college grad wants new but can only afford a small sedan, not Ford. When he wants the next car he'll look first to the company he bought from, not Ford. Someone wants a new EV. A small cheap EV, not Ford. An EV truck, not Ford. A large EV SUV, not Ford. A big luxury EV, not Ford. A big offroad EV, not Ford. GM has maybe as many as 15 EV models, Ford has 1, a 5 year old model depending on the Mustang name.

EV adoption in the US is severely hampered by infrastructure. Mainly, IMHO, visability. Unless you already own an EV, chargers are almost invisable. Even with an EV, price is almost invisable.

The number of chargers isn't quite there eather. I just made a trip down the 95 corridor on the east coast. My first stop. 1/2 plus 1 of the 12 Tesla chargers were inoperative. I pressed on and tried 3 at the next Tesla, none worked. Luckily there was an Iona nearby. Expensive but worked well with just a credit card. Next 2 Tesla chargers, full with several waiting. So went to an EA with 1 inoperative, 1 with an EV charged and parked. 1 with a Caddie charging forever and 1 waiting to charge who let me put on enough miles for a 30 mile trip to a nearly vacant Tesla charger in a rural area that was what I expect from Tesla.

Sorry for the rant, away from home with too much time on my hands!
