Help! I can't get it or. Charge door plunger broke off

The plunger for the charging port broke off and is stuck inside the release gate. We bought a replacement locking pin for the charge port door but can't install it until we get the broken plunger out from the previous one. Is there a way to pop it out manually?

Mine works fine and nothing stuck.

Seems like the plunger does a bit of twist when it goes in.

Thank you so much for sending that picture. I feel like such an idiot for assuming that the plunger was stuck. Had the replacement part and installed the new plunger and it works perfectly now.

For future searchers I'll point out there is a slot at the top and bottom of the plunger receiver in the photos. Usually when there's a slot like that it can be used to insert a screw driver. If I had to guess, a quarter turn counter-clockwise would remove the receiver or at least the retainer for the receiver.
