HIT & RUN-Fixable???

The good news:

I got a text from someone saying that one of his guys hit my truck and he'll gladly send money to fix it "once he sees my deductible amount or price to fix it."

I responded "thanks, please send your insurance information."

I'd rather let the insurance companies deal with the money issues and keep things at arms length.

Because you never know about people.

Just from what I can see, not sure what is damaged. See if the mirror damaged the door glass. Hope this helps.

Na, it’s the company I work for. They’re based out of Texas.

Update on my mirror murderer...alas.
The information he gave me was false - no "d'mietri" exists for that phone number only a business owned by a Cedrick S....
I sent him copies of the repair bill ($747.91) and then asked him if he got it.
He said he did and was having insurance deal with it.
I asked him what insurance company.
He said All State.
I asked for his policy number and full name.
He said he was too busy and didn't have his policy number handy.
I said ok, just your full name I'll call Allstate.
No reply.

So I had to file a police report.

I found his company name and looked at Yelp reviews and he is a disaster of a plumber, damaged one woman's house and won't return her texts.

But it had an address and his full name as the business owner.

He claims to be an ex-marine and talks about integrity etc. on the business web site.

Yeah, right.

I now fold my mirrors after parking on the street in front of my house just in case.

Quick little bit of forscan work would enable the "Lincoln Navigator" auto-fold-on-lock feature for your mirrors. Highly recommend it given what the mirrors cost, and it also gives you a visual confirmation you remembered to lock the truck...

Our Pros definitely don’t have powered folding mirrors.

Yes I have a 2023 Pro.
Thanks for the offer of auto-fold.

Lots of big trucks, trash trucks etc. have been able to pass by my truck without incident.
This guy wanted to park on the wrong side of the street and clipped my mirror as he approached, maybe under the influence of something, who knows?

Maybe he's living on the edge and doesn't have the money to pay for the damage?
If he gave me a sob story I guess I'd just ask him to pay a little bit each month, or something.

But lying to me about his name and insurance is the path he chose.

Disappointing especially since he claims to be an ex-marine with integrity on his web site and calls his plumbing business "SemperFluid Systems."

Such is life on planet earth.
