I have read that, I am just not sure how it works with Android. I also take my fob with me everywhere so not that big of a deal anyways.

The kia support team says you currently can't share keys between phone systems (i.e. if primary has ios you cant share a key with the android phone users and vice versa). This is factually incorrect. My wife is primary with an ios, and I have an android phone. It took some figuring in what order to create accounts, customize, add keys etc (you also have to do all this with both key fobs present in the car, weird I know). Make the accounts on the car. Set up the fingerprints etc. Then set up the primary accounts phone as key. After that you go into the wallet app on the phone, and share that key from inside the phones native wallet app (not the kia app). Accept it on the other phone. Go into the secondary account on in the kia, you will then have the option to add the other phone into the account for phone as key use. 100% functionality. Additionally I can sit in the car and authenticate with fingerprint without my phone being present at all since all that. But my phone does work for walk up and walk away etc, just like it should.

You may have to also send the email from inside kia app before all this to add authorized user, but this is specific to the phone as key portion which is basically thr last step.

I agree with one post that idea of selling your Lightning now and buying another new EV seems silly from my POV... My Lightning is my 5th EV and I had done zero repairs in the last 15 years that I have been driving EVs.. My Lightning is a pleasure to drive every single day and my occasional road trips (and I've done quite a few) do not discourage me from enjoying my ride. I'm definitely going to keep mine for at least another 3 years (whenever my odometer hits 90K miles it's time to sell!).... But whatever you do I hope you will enjoy it!

I think that I might be uniquely qualified to speak to this. I own a 2022 Lightning Lariat ER, and a 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 Performance. The Hyundai is the same vehicle as the EV9. My ICCU failed at 7622 miles and was out of service for 3 weeks. My wife no longer trusts it, so we drive the Lightning everywhere.

Hmmm...

That is an interesting data point. From what I had read, I thought the revised ICCU for the NACS port was more reliable. I guess not. I looked at the Ionic 9 as well, but I just prefer the body styling on the EV9.

That said, I think all EVs have gremlins. I was without my Lightning (2022 Lariat ER) for about 8 weeks total last year due to water leaks and multiple module failures, most of which was NOT covered by Ford and what was covered took me about 6 months of fighting on the phone to get my rental covered. I am still out several thousand overall for repairs on a 3 year old vehicle (less than 3 at the time).

Did Hyundai take care of you and give you a loaner / rental when it was in the shop?
