Forgot when loading my truck that I placed my paper coffee cup of water on the tonneau cover. Drove 1.5 miles to 7/11 for a snack, pizza and Dr. Pepper. Came back to the truck and thought, what bum put his cup on my truck (Me).

Then it struck me, it was I, 1.5 miles on 35 mph streets with stop and go traffic and turns.

Like I said, an amazing smooth driving truck, and didn't spill a drop.

I've done the exact thing countless times - same place as you - Ford should just put a cup holder there -it's clearly a natural place for one! Or a "cup alert" bong noise - we all know how much the truck likes to talk to us about all sorts of things - why not give it another reason :)

Have done that with an ambulance on a call where someone left a cup of coffee on the back step.
I guess it's better than leaving the door open and the gurney not secured.

sw engineering manager,
Was behind a pickup on the road a couple years ago with half-full beer bottle sitting on the back bumper. Never fell off while I was behind them.

You just drive like an old man, has nothing to do with the truck.

I should know, I drive a GMC ICE truck at work and I once drove about 10 miles, up to 45mph with a tablet on the toolbox. I also drive like an old man ;)

Aerodynamics are an interesting thing. A few weeks back visiting Reno in an F150 with a tonneau cover - one passenger laid their wallet in a similar place. It went unnoticed until we were 10 miles down the road- 3 miles of city streets and turns and another 7 at 70-75 down the interstate. Discovered, pulled over and retrieved.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and I left one of my favorite Star Wars toys (small Imperial Shuttle) on the back bumper of my parent's Ford Explorer. They drove something like 40 miles and it never fell off.
