New Owner, First DC charging question

Thanks. I figured heat was part of it. I have sensitive hearing and all the Telsas fans running at fully power was deafening to me. The adapter was an elcheapo from amazon. The dealership is supposed to be ordering me a Ford one along with all the other stuff that was missing on my truck.

Ohhhh I would be concerned about using a cheap adapter, particularly in hot weather. 180 kW is like powering a whole street full of houses. You are passing a LOT of power through those tiny connections. The potential for heat damage is very real, and the teardowns that I've seen indicate some of the adapters don't have good engineering on the placement of temperature sensors/safety interlocks.

As others have noted, the truck will *always* throttle heavily as soon as you hit 80%, so not much point going past there unless you really need to or have time to kill (e.g. having a sit down meal).

Road tripping / DC charging is the truck's weakest point, in my opinion, but it's still acceptable. It's the one tradeoff you have to make in exchange for literally everything else being better.
