I finally wore the OEM hankooks enough that I didn’t feel bad replacing them. After doing some homework as well as looking at different tire set ups on other F 150s I decided to go with a 295/60/20 KO3 on stock rim with a 2.6“ Eibach leveling front shock. That’s a 33.9” tire weighing 65 lbs with a max load of 3,750 lbs and max psi of 80 vs the hankooks which are 32.8”, 41 lbs weight, max load of 2,679 lb and max psi of 51. In short a LOT more tire. Install took about five hours at my local shop including shock alignment recalibrating blue cruise which was throwing error messages. No rubbing at all. Ride is stiffer in a good way. Now it rides like all my other gas F15Os not like my grandmas Lincoln. Bouncy floaty feel is gone and it feels much more planted and connected to the road.
Tire shop set them at 41 psi and I haven’t messed with that yet so range info is based on that pressure. All of my driving is done around town. I reset trip 2 odometer when I left the tire shop and have since covered about 500 miles. On stock tires I averaged 2.3 mi/kw now I am getting 2.0. Range is down from 320 to 275. So that’s about a 14% hit. To me it’s totally worth it. Still dirt cheap to drive vs my old truck and now it actually looks and drives like a truck. NO regrets!
