I’m going to be replacing the passenger side lamp inside the frunk since it has water inside. It still works, but I figure that may not last long since typically water and electricity don’t mix!
Before I tackle this myself, and try to figure it out, I wanted to see if anyone has done this already? If so, do you have any pointers? I tried searching around but came up empty. Thanks in advance.

Had mine replaced under warranty for water inside. Can’t tell you anymore other than you’re not alone

Unless you can get it replaced under warranty, don't bother, it will dry up. I've noticed water in both of mine from time to time, they've always dried up and still work.

I had both of mine replaced one they actually had to replace twice. It was all covered under warranty. Here is the thread link - https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/water-inside-frunk-hatch-lights.27612/ -

I do not recommend doing this your self as the entire front fascia has to come out and they broke several of the black fasteners when doing mine I also had to get them to replace.

Long story short the reason they leak is they got over tightened when installed and cause stress cracks for water to get inside. Since they got fixed last year I have not had any more problems.

If your out of warranty I would suggest asking the dealer to see if they can verify if it was overtightened when installed and thus a manufacturer defect not your fault.

I just looked at my frunk lights and sure enough, there was a few drops of water inside the passenger side light. As far as I can tell, the only way water could get in there is condensation. If water was coming from precipitation, the light would be the least of my concerns. If this becomes an issue for me, I will simply drill a tiny hole through the light lens to let the water drain out.

Did your lights ever quit working?

Thanks for the good info. I didn’t realize it was so involved to replace them. I bought replacement lights (2 of them in case this happens again). I may hold off and worst case have a dealer install the lights I purchased. Since my lights are still working I guess I won’t rush to replace them just yet.

I never understood why Ford makes it so difficult to change light bulbs in their vehicles.

My 2001 Ranger had the gas gauge bulb burn out and to change it was very involved - you could not just reach up under the dash and undo it.

How many Ford engineers does it take to design a light bulb that uses an hour (or more) of dealer shop time to replace?

You might see if there is a local mechanic / body shop who could change it for you for less per hour than what Ford will charge if it is out of warranty since you already have the part.

No they never quit working just a fair. Amount of water inside more them would be coming from condensation.

Having an extra is not a bad idea. To my knowledge the same exact light is used in the truck bed for the exterior lighting.

Judging by the number of tail lights for sale on eBay I'd say they make it a little too easy to change light bulbs.😁

Yes, they made it too easy to steal the whole dang tail light, which is a thing in some areas.
Some places they are also stealing tail gates!
Always something...
