About two years ago, there was a recall for the light bar due to microscopic fractures which could allow moisture inside. I had the light bar replaced by Ford.

But then a year later, someone rear-ended the truck and the light bar was replaced again. And now I’m noticing moisture after car washes getting into the light bar. In fact, I think I see salt or sand as we just took it to the beach and I ran it through the wash.

Is it possible that after the accident, the light bar was replaced with an inferior part? If so, do I have any recourse or am I just out of luck?

Thankfully, so far, it does not seem like functionality is impaired, but I worry about whatever problems plugged the pre-recall light bar affecting the post accident bar.

Several owners including myself had this occur post re-call even without having been in any sort of accident. It's unfortunately a somewhat widespread issue.

Do you mean that even after the recall you still had the water getting in?

It's a very strange phenomenon and I reckon it has to do with the tailgate mounting.
So far, we haven't seen any proof that the old, inferior parts went back into circulation but maybe there was bad batches of new versions still stored regionally?
With so many reports of people having multiple replacements and very few people getting one replacement there has to be a common link to the truck or location.

My truck hasn't had issues pre or post recall and it lives outside.
