About to custom order an XLT with the 302a package and wondered if anyone can comment on the quality of the standard audio vs the upgraded B&O option, is it worth it?

I'm definitely not an audiophile, but I had a standard audio 2020 xlt and now I have my 2022 xlt with the B&O and I feel like it was worth it. It seems clearer, louder, and more bass.

I say it's worth it.

I'm a musician and home recording enthusiast. I listen to B&W 700 speakers in my living room, Mackie professional monitors in my studio, and Yamaha PA speakers on stage.

I find nothing lacking in the B&O system. If you like bass that rattles the windows, you'll probably think the subwoofer is weak (it is pretty compact). Just dial back on the treble ;-}

It was 800 Canadian I believe, maybe 900 I can’t remember but I think it’s worth it if you’re a big music listener on drives. My friend has the standard radio and complains about how it’s not very loud or clear especially when listening to radio stations

Yep $900 CAD.

Just wanna make sure it doesn't distort when loud or deep base. I had car with a Dr Beats system/subwoofer and that was insane, could not make it distort.

I've been happy with the B&O Unleashed. Massive upgrade from the factory option I had in my previous 4Runner.
If you're coming from a very high power system with big woofers, and expecting to be able to let people a block away know that you're coming from the audio thumping...it's probably not that system.

If you're looking for deep bass, stick with the base system and upgrade yourself. The "regular" B&O is a very balanced system, there's bass but it won't shake your seat or anything like that.

I’ve actually been pretty pleased with the stock 302A stereo. I mostly use CarPlay/Spotify with the highest quality settings and I was surprised how clear and balanced the sound was without any eq adjustments. I was particularly impressed with how punchy the drum intro to “Like a Wrecking Ball” by Eric Church was. Way better than any other “stock” audio systems I’ve had in vehicles in the past.

re loudness, I haven’t had to turn it up past 12 yet. I find it has plenty of volume.

$900 goes a long ways, add the stock system, then spend $900 you can get a better overall system, IMHO

I did a test drive that had the standard audio. It was not terrible but not as good as I expected for B&O. Go listen for yourself if you can.
