The draft plan for Texas to spend the money allocated to it under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program is now available, https://txdot.mysocialpinpoint.com/tx_ev_plan/. The plan includes installation of over 2,500 DC fast chargers (CCS) and almost 20k L2 chargers. The chargers are to be installed over a five-year period with over 700 DC fast chargers per year being installed until the federal government's $317M allocated to Texas is gone.

Initial installations will be along Alternative Fuel Corridors but eventually DC fast chargers will be installed near EVERY county seat. Just like with F150L production, installation rate of these CCS chargers in Texas is going to ramp up with none installed in 2022 and only 272 to be installed in 2023. Considering there was not a single CCS charger in Texas just six years ago, this is phenomenal progress!

Most of the charger locations are not yet set in stone but solicitations are supposed to start in October with contracts awarded by the end of the year. The draft Texas EV Infrastructure Plan is currently open for comments. You still have a chance to influence where these chargers will be located if you jump in and post your preferences.

The next time someone complains to you that there won't be any place for them to charge up a F150L, point them to the TX EV Infrastructure Plan. After these chargers are installed, there shouldn't be anyone in Texas more than a few miles from a DC fast charger. I can't think of a more potent EV game changer than mass production of F150Ls combined with DC fast chargers popping up all over Texas

I have two DC fast chargers about 3/4 of a mile from my house. An EVGo and EA. It's nice when I forget to charge overnight at my house and can just stop by one of them for 20 minutes. In a few years, travelling across Texas will be even easier. I think right now, you can find a DC fast charger every hundred miles or less along the major interstates.

Thanks for the post. Nice they ask for suggested locations and hopefully Tesla will be a part of it sooner than later too. I see several Bucees installing their superchargers now.

What Bec-ee's has them going in. I've been watching plugshare showing soon but can't get any exact time.

Yep - announced over a year ago - the first Tesla chargers at Buc-Cee's are open. I don't know which locations, but I've seen the pictures on FB. Go to supercharger.info or the Tesla charger page.

Let's hope that all states are taking advantage of this. Maybe then we can finally compete with Tesla's charging system so we can all charge happily.

Texas needs to install as many DC Fast Charger stations as they have state historical (or hysterical) markers. They have 16,000 historical markers.

My favorite Texas historical marker is in Panhandle TX. It commemorates the first honey do project (and first tree) in the panhandle of Texas.

Aren’t there only like 2000 DCFC in the entire US? That would be amazing if they could pull it off.

Here's to hoping they follow the new federal guidelines and install them every 50 miles and then make sure they all can be used without an app or membership.
DFW to Houston and Austin are pretty well covered but there's nothing between Dallas and Shreveport and then west Texas needs more there could certainly be one to two between Sweetwater and Lubbock.

Whoa boy, it's going to take five years to install all those chargers and by then the whole country is going to be covered with DCFC chargers. I also should mention that those 2,500 DCFC chargers are going to be install at about 500 locations with 4 to 8 chargers at each location. One thing that should be of special interest to prospective F150L owners is the Texas NEVI Plan says there will be at least one pull through charger slot at each location that will allow charging while connected to a trailer.

The Federal Deal isn't the same as the Texas VW Electrify America deal mentioned above. The Texas agreement with VW had a number of grants. I emailed them to try to find out when they will be installed. The Texas department wrote back that (of course) all the money was claimed. That each holder of a grant has a timeline of their own. After that they could get the grant money.
While Buc-ee's may have Tesla Super Chargers going in in Tennessee, they currently will be of ZERO value to any CCS car or truck or motorcycle. The Tesla's going in are AC for only Tesla cars.

I came down I-35 Saturday and barely got home. Hotel in Fort Worth didn't have evse and their 120VAC outlet faulted my charger. Then Waco Electrify America (this is the Texas deal) chargers were so messed up EA just opened them but we had to wait an hour to try to get to Round Rock. Then 2 of the 10 worked. One was working for only 10 minutes at a time.

In all a drive through would be great for any car or truck. The worst part may be that no cover or roof is over them.
