It is scary that there are more than a few cases of this. I've had the case where I've touched the resume button while turning in a parking lot once and had to hit the brakes frantically. I turn cruise completely off now when I exit the highway.

For the OP - immediately have the truck investigated. If the impact was hard enough, it would have recorded many of the parameters at the time of impact (ie. throttle position, BlueCruise status, brake status etc.). In your case, it may not have been a serious enough incident for the truck to trigger the capture, but it's worth a shot. I'd sure want to know.

I too have had the unintended acceleration by accidentally pressing the cruise control button. It seems to be very sensitive, th slightest graze and bam the car takes off. I have had this happen about 4 times now in a year, once while in a parking garage. I have learned to make sure the cruise is diabled as soon as i exit the highway. I have never had this happen on any other car. I know its my fault for not tirning the wheel "properly", but i am the only person that uses the palm of their hand when making tight turns?

I played around with this today as I thought some of the behaviors people claimed seem kind of dumb (the behavior, not the people), for example, I thought you had to go a certain speed to activate cruise control for example...

So the most interesting observation is that if you drive up to speed and then activate cruise control only to later disengage it with the cancel button or by braking... if you then later come to a full stop and you try to resume you get two different behaviors...

If there is noone infront of you, it'll basically say "can't activate, moving too slow" kind of as expected.

But IF there IS someone infront of you, it'll happily activate cruise control and as long as the car infront starts moving within a second or two, your truck will just GENTLY take off after the car infront.

If you remain stationary for more than a few seconds (with someone infront) it will activate, but then deactivate with a "stopped" label on the dash.

Additionally, if you have speed sign recognition, the truck continues to track speed signs even with the cruise in standby.

This happened to me when I first got the pickup. A few things i noticed. If the car in front is at an angle the pickup seems to disregard it and tries to quickly accelerate back to pervious speed.

The other is having my foot rest on the accelerator when stopped behind another car has had some bad side effect. Slowly creeping up on them which will eventually trigger the accident avoidance warning. If the car in front make does a false start and stops again my pickup ²will jump as well and I have to agressivly apply the break.

My solution is whenever I'm stopped I rest my foot on the break. Just think of it as one peddle driving not one peddle stopped.

As far as insurance goes, if you are stopped behind a car and the pickup hits the car in front or the car in front backs into you, if the data in the pickup says your foot was NOT on the break peddle, you most likely will be at fault.

Happened to me once , truck was almost going to hit a wall but i was able to brake in time. Second time Happened to my wife unfortunately she wasn't to break in time.
I think after some recent updates this issue must have been fixed because i have turned on cruice accidentally a few time after the updates but it doesn't do that anymore
