Today I discovered a very strange situation with my truck. Let me start by saying I am embarrassed it took me so long to realise this situation!
It started yesterday when I received a notification on my phone that my truck had detected an intrusion and the alarm was going off. I checked the truck on the driveway and nothing at all in terms of an intrusion (I even checked the security cameras) so I put it down to an anomaly. Then 30 mins later I received a low tyre pressure warning alert. I am now assuming the dropping of the tyre pressure (down to 13 PSI) moved the truck sufficiently to trigger an intrusion alert. (I don't know I'm guessing here).
Anyway I go to check the tyre (it was front passenger) and pump it up enough to go get the slow puncture fixed and I notice that it's much more worn than the other front tyre. I then notice that the make of the tyre is a General Grabber and the other three tyres are all Hankooks!! Luckily I had a picture of the truck from the week I picked it up and you can see clearly it has this General Grabber on the front passenger side and it hasn't appeared during it's couple of trips to the dealership for software updates or some other crazy situation while it's been parked up.
I took it down to the dealer and they have not clue how this could have happened. I thought there was a chance they might have said "oh yeah I have seen this before it happens when......" but no, they were as lost as I was.
Anyway they are going to put a new tyre on the truck but has anyone seen or heard of anything as strange as this before?
I chose the option of all terrain tyres and to be honest I am not sure if the Hankooks are the right tyre for this option or if the General Grabber is the right tyre?? For sure the one that was fitted to the front passenger side was not a new tyre.
Any clues??
Anyone seen this before??
