Will the tariffs affect prices currently on lots?

Well not at the one I bought from.

They sold the two 2022 Mavericks at MSRP when others were marking them up 5-10k. I bought my Lightning for $2.5k under MSRP with a trade-in value on my 18mo old Maverick being my out the door price I paid for it.

I’ld say that is pretty reputable! These dealers do exist. Don’t be taken for ride!

Dealerships were demanding $5,000 and up as dealer mark-ups when I bought my Lightning in June 2022. It was a widespread problem.

Fortunately, Koons Ford Silver Spring charged me the same $495 dealer service fee they tack on every sale. They even gave me a surprisingly good trade-in for my Taco Bell (twice what I could have sold it for).

I agree those dealers exist. I think they are the exception rather than the rule.

As during the pandemic one should expect trucks to cost $5,000 more than otherwise without the Trump tariffs. Interesting in that the pandemic was far worse thanks to Trump's mishandling of the situation, much as with measles today.

Expect supply chain disruptions that will add both cost and delays to new vehicles, as with before with Trump. I bought a F-150 in April of 2022 and paid an additional $5,000 and was unable to find a supercab anywhere in California. So I paid a premium to get a supercrew that is a PITA to drive.

My advice - get the price on the base truck down down down as low as they will go.
Then, and only then ask about adding anything back (bedliner, box tonneau cover etc) if the "add" is more than you can get it for on your own - say no to the adders and secure the truck at the best price you can get.

There you have it, Canada just retaliated by putting 25% tariffs on autos made in the US. So along with the extra costs Ford has to pay to build it (higher aluminium, steel, international parts) an additional 25% will be put on the finished vehicle. If you live in Canada and find one on the lot, I recommend you run, not walk to a dealership.

If you can find the truck equipped as you want it buy now. Delaying is not a good idea unless you can wait for Trump to leave office.

This is going to affect prices for both new and for used vehicles as we saw with Trump during his first inflationary term in office.
