2021 B&O Unleashed Software Update massively improved sound quality - super happy.

When the trucks have the DSP in 21 they use a digital cable to transfer the sound from the ACM to the DSP. It is possible to have an ACM update affect the sound but they havent released an update for the ACM outside adding a kicker sub.

The APIM updates could improve sound since all sources come through it. There is no CD player so all sound is output Ananlog(Strange) to the ACM then converted to A2B and sent to the DSP.

As of this morning no updates have been performed on that truck. That makes sense since it is a JOB 2 truck they have all the latest software. I didnt look until this morning at build date.

Can you see the line for the speaker? I know I'm not completely crazy, it 100% sounds different than before - the center channel speaker isn't as pronounced as it was before and the dash speakers are producing more noise and the highs are better - they didn't mess with the EQ, it was the same as it was when I took it in.

I cant see that. All I can see in terms of what they did was anything that required FDRS. I can see real time what they are doing in FDRS> Speaker replacement wont require FDRS I can see where they went to the workshop to look up the speaker replacement.

Now dont think you are crazy you arent. If you had a bad speaker that could Hugley affect the sound output. If the amps detects a bad speaker it will limit output and sound to protect that channel. I am certain you detect an audible difference. I could understand it.

In a truck owners opinion; should this be done? Yes.

Do I expect a flat rate technician who, only gets flagged for fixing a verifiable problem, with procedures directed by the workshop manual or technical service bulletin, to take the time to do what you’re suggesting… for 0.3 hrs of pay?
Not usually.

That is something I understand. my Brother is a service director for a Toyota Dealer. I get tthe flip side. I do. That is why I pretty much advocate people doing it themselves and iceman77 taking that lead created a great thread. The fault lies at fords feet. Ford needs to understand and pay for these updates they are required. Not optional.

Is the missing speaker helping the amp modulate currents to the other speakers “better”, improving sound quality of what’s left?

Gonna be annoyed/happy if it’s that simple. I hope/think it’s an update of some kind.

The speaker in question still works it just rattles at certain bass frequencies. When I take it back in to get it replaced I'll ask. I don't think that the amp is doing anything to protect it.

July seems to be the switch over. You can know for sure if your cams work in motion without having changed anything with forscan.. and you have a cargo cam in the side stack you have a job 2

I believe June 5th was the last production day of Job 1 trucks. Anything beyond that is a Job 2 truck. I'm basing that simply on the dates of different owners manual on Ford websites.

I did not order the B&O unleashed. I wish I would have after hearing the regular B&O. It was ok but not as good as I thought it would be. Any chance there is a software upgrade for this?

I have the Unleashed. It is the best sounding Ford factory setup I have heard, but it is not as good as many other manufacturers premium sound systems. It might be the first one I leave stock, but time will tell.
