Well…
The mobile charger that you got will work for a while, but they are not the best charger in the world as far as longevity from what I understand from this forum. -it should be fine for a while.

The FCSP(Ford charge station pro) it is probably overkill for your vehicle as you probably have a single charger in the truck and would be maxed out at 48 amp. The charge station pro can be dialed up to 80 amp on 100 amp breaker(plus the FCSP is very expensive relative to the other options). There are other home charging units(EVSE) that can be hardwired (probably the best way to do the install if you can )or you could put in the “dryer plug” it is actually called a Nema 14-50 plug and if you went that route you would want to be sure you got a high-quality plug!
There are other threads on this forum that discuss this in greater detail.-both the 14-50 and EVSE‘s!
So does the Charge Station Pro plug directly into that dryer receptacle or does it have to be wired? I ask because yesterday I pad to have it installed for the charging set-up that was included. I’d probably buy the Charger Pro if it’s as simple as plugging it into the receptacle that was just installed. If not I’ve gotta pay for the charger plus having the electrician come back out and rewire.

The Ford Charge Station Pro is HARD WIRED ONLY. It can set up via internal switch from anywhere from a 12 amp to 80 amp output (16 amp to 100 amp hard wired)

The basic installation included with certain incentives aka Ford Power Promise https://www.ford.com/powerpromise/ includes a complimentary Ford Power Station Pro with it hard wired 50 amp (40 amp output) with limitations on panel capability and distance from the circuit breaker panel.

A Ford Charge Station Pro can be easily found new unused for about $600 on ebay or on this forum. Ford was including them with new some Lightning purchases just last year. I sold mine and bought a Tesla Wall Connector instead and had an electrician hard wired it to a 60 amp circuit.

Another very popular option is an Emporia https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Enabled-Electric-Hardwired-Charging/dp/B09ZNN3JB7/ that comes ready to oplug into a 14-50 50 amp Recepticle for 40 amps output or can be hard wired up to a 60 amp circuit for 48 amps ooutput.

  • Versatile Installation Options: Preconfigured for NEMA Type 14-50P compliant with 2017 NEC Section 625.17 for up to 40A or convert to Hardwired for up to 48A. Professional installation recommended for optimal safety and performance.

I am not 100% sure on the hard-wired. I personally would not put in the FCSP unless you’re going to hardwire it or spend the ungodly amount of money to put in the home backup system, which is probably not recommended based on other threads in this forum, I know they have been trying to get it to work better and some people have had success but others not so much. Ford changed the way the lightning was made in 2024 to only having one onboard charger on the truck unless it was a pro fleet order, I believe that included platinum as well. So I have a 2023 lariat and I am able to charge at 80 A because I have the dual on board chargers and the FCSP was included with the purchase of my vehicle.

Do you know what size breaker was installed with your plug?

I would probably just go with the Emporia, Tesla universal charger or one of the many others that people have recommended on this forum and you should be able to install them with the plug as long as your plug is quality and the breaker is big enough.
I am no electrician, just a fairly well informed, enthusiastic, lightning owner and would defer to others on this subject.

Yeah so my electrician said the Pro won’t work cuz of my panel and the wire he ran wasn’t heavy enough gauge to handle the pro. He said as long as I can adjust it down to 30 amps I’d be safe and wouldn’t have to worry about popping the main while charging and using the microwave. If the pro can be turned down then it would work but that seems to defeat the purpose of the pro

I believe he used a 50amp breaker but due to the panel he calculated that for safety of NOT popping the main breaker i should charge at no more than 30amps. Especially in the summer with the AC on

Let me add. If you are buying a new 2025 Platinum there is an option to either take a $500 rebate or a Free Ford Charge Station Pro with complimentary installation. It's a heck of a deal if you want a Ford Charge Station Pro

from Ford site:

"*Must purchase or lease a new 2024 or 2025 F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E or E-Transit Cargo Van from a participating Ford dealer between 4/3/2025 and 7/7/2025 to be eligible to receive (a) one (1) complimentary Ford home charge station (model may vary based on availability) with complimentary home installation (excludes permitting costs and fees, if applicable); or (b) $500 bonus cash. Offer not available to fleet or commercial customers. Complimentary home installation must be completed through Qmerit Electrification LLC. Installation exclusions apply. Must take retail delivery from an authorized Ford dealer's stock by 7/7/2025. No trade-in required. 2025 Mustang Mach-E inventory may be limited and may vary by location. See your Ford dealer for details, terms and the most current inventory status."

Yeh I agree that the Ford Pro is a bit much for my needs.

I’m not sure that was a good idea if your panel is maxed out with 30 more amps to put in a 50 amp breaker but like I said, I am no electrician!
My electrician installed a new meter base with dual lugs (or maybe it’s four lugs)so now I have my original main panel in the garage and another main exterior panel for my Ford charge station pro on a 100 amp breaker and I installed solar a couple months later so the breaker for that is in there as well. It was expensive upfront, but I knew I was going to be putting in the solar and I know I will probably only own electric vehicles going forward and have a little space to add another EVSE in the future if needed.

Huh. Dealer said nothing about this and I bought the truck two days ago. So who would I call to get this incentive?

Charge Station Pro can be turned down with the internal switch.

If you already paid for a outlet to be installed and you took the $500 rebate instead of the redd charger and installation then seriously look into the Emporia. It can be plugged into a 50 amp outlet and set to a max 30 amp output via their app if desired.

Here is the setting for the Ford Charge Station Pro to set the output.

Awesome! Thank you my friend.
By the way, I wasn’t offered a 500 rebate or a charger pro from the dealer. Do I need to contact someone at corporate for that incentive?

I would double check your paperwork an/ or contact your dealer about the FCSP.
