Hello everyone.
I got my 2022 f150 lighting lariat ER not too long ago after test drove it from Turo (2022 lightning lariat SR) for an extended period. I immediately fell in love with it and decided to buy one after.
I really loved the truck so far but I am missing the walk away lock so much. I am missing the BCM 24.5.1 update so no walk away lock for me.
i have tried to contact ford so many times over the phone and on social media, at first, I was told that the update failed in late December and late November because of the low 12v battery, so I got the battery replaced, and then I was told to wait since ford will push the update (or some different answer every time), but then another month or so went by, still nothing.
I got tired waiting for them so I went to the dealership for the update, I spend over 260 and was told basically since the recent 25c69 recall, they were not able to update the bcm, I thought it was nonsense since the recall are ipm related and should not interfere with the bcm update.. and was told that the recall is unavailable because the remedy is not available yet (only available for the hybrid maverick).. more waiting I guess?
Contacted ford again over social media, asked them about the update and if the dealership was correct but I was basically told to contact the dealer and fill out an survey on how the experience was…
I did some research (mostly ai) and I was told that since the ota have failed a few times, ford has blocked the ability to receive ota updates and only dealership can fix that, but again, dealership basically told me that there’s nothing they can do and took my money..
Does anyone know if the dealership was telling the truth regarding the update? Is there anyway to get the update at all at this point or what should I do?
Just a rant but overall this experience was extremely exhausting and frustrating for me to get a simple update, ford’s customer support and dealer offered no help at all.. I have owned an Acura before and their customer service department offered a lot of help and replacement parts that were not required because I was a new customer, this has overall really made me gasp about how ford treats its new customers and has discouraged me a lot from getting another ford again.
Thanks anyone for your input in advance and listening to my rant.
Sincerely,
A lost new lightning owner
