People with the small fifth wheels designed for half-tons.
I have not seen a small fifth wheel designed for half tons that was built after mid 2000s. Not saying they don’t exist, just have not seen them.

I don’t understand the need for the truck to have 700+ miles of range. Almost nobody is going to go that distance without stopping.

The biggest opportunity IMO is charging speed closely followed by price. If the truck could charge from 10 to 80% in around 15 minutes, then there’s no need for a range extender for 98% of 1/2 ton truck buyers.
100%. The day I need to replace the f150 and lose the frunk for an engine is the day I look elsewhere. Actually the engine might be a dealbreaker. Full stop.

if the truck lost weight + better battery tech that’s coming, that’s all I would need to re-up. I love this truck!

Ford really missed on canceling the lightning. The extended range vehicle is ridiculous. Like someone said above I can go about 200 miles and I need to go to the bathroom and get a bite to eat and drive again. I don’t know how anyone does 345 hour marathon driving but to each his own I’ll wait for the Democratic president to come into power and bring back the Ford lightning so stupid.
problem is draw a 200 mile circle around where you are located. Is there a charging station there? anywhere? on a road you likely travel? probably but I guarantee there is a gas station with 20 miles anywhere along that circle.

Probably a bad example. I have hundreds of DCFC locations in that 200 mile circle…..

🤣 I’m in Cali b. They are everywhere. There is literally 12 EV go next to a Starbucks by my house.🤣 maybe 1 min drive. 🤦‍♂️

If your state has bad charging move out of Montana or other state that has an extremely low population it’s not worth putting the infrastructure in for the few people that drive EV in those states. I’m not knocking it’s a beautiful place, but it has like 1 million people in the entire state.

Many of us don't. until Ford struck a deal with Tesla I couldn't make a 400 mile drive to Houston without driving an extra 180 miles to get to a charger.

That was 2023. Much has changed since then….. Looks like over 150 DCFC’s in Houston alone.

As usual Motor Trend complements with one hand and then makes suggestions that will result in a 100K truck ala the Rivien, CyberTruck etc. A bouge / douche mobile isn't what F150 drivers want IMO. It's a truck. It's electric.

This entire process began in Feb 2025 when Farley lost his nerve from the rollback of EV incentives and tossed the Lightning under the bus. That's not really going to make EV drivers go away.

I love my Lightning but if Toyota would make a Tacoma/Tundra BEV i'd probably just go there.

That's less of a desert than a few places I've been to. Granted, most of those stations listed are small stations.

Hardly a desert IMO. Pretty good options over 120 miles of 59.

if you driven it or examined each one on ABRP you'd understand. if you haven't, well, trust me. if it were not for Telsa I'd be taking my wife's ICE car. by design, I still have that option. my overall point is that the Light

You gotta help me understand this one as I don’t get it. I’ve mapped two trips on 59 with my Lightning and I’m struggling to see what the issue is…..

The biggest issue is essentially all of the stations along 59 are small (less than 4 chargers), so good possibility of being busy or broken.
