Preliminary 2022 Lightning Custom Price Tool

I'm trying to figure out why there is a 9.5k difference between the Lariat Premium and the Platinum. The Platinum has the 22" wheels to the LP 20". The Platinum has the B&O Unleashed. The premium seats are also included. The max-trailer tow package is included on the Platinum and optional on the LP. I'm finding it very difficult to see those four items total up to 9.5k. What am I missing?

Agreed. I originally thought I was going to get a Platinum but after seeing that we may be able to get the Lariat Premium with a couple options and still be ~$9k less than the Platinum, I may go that route. In pictures, I'm not a fan of the 22" wheels on the Platinum anyway, and I can live without the B&O Unleashed and the upgraded seats--I rarely use the massage function in my seats now. We'll see if there's really that big of a gap in the final pricing or if there are other things missing on the Lariat Premium we're not currently aware of.

Without a doubt. Wheel/tire size has a significant impact on range. This is why the longest range CA Route 1 model of the Mustang Mach E drops from 19" to 18" wheels. I definitely expect the Platinum to have a lower EPA range but it may only be a few %.

Very few because of the wheels, I think. The CA Route 1 with smaller wheels and aero covers gets EPA range rating of 305 compared to 300 for premium with RWD and extended range battery. That's less than 2%.

This pricing is a bummer. I'm not wanting a whole lot of vehicle but I do want the 15" screen and the Active assist (2 hour drive one way to Seattle along boring, straight I-5)... cloth seats don't work for us either cuz we are constantly getting the car muddy... it looks like I have to get a Lariat. $60k, ouch.

The EPA ranges only improve from 300-305. However, some of the independent range tests indicate it's actually more.

They also indicate higher range for othr trim. The point that smaller wheels with aero covers, aren't adding a great deal to the range.

It's probably not a good idea, but you can already do hands-free driving with Assist 2.0 if you place an ankle weight on the wheel. There's no difference between the lane centering/adaptive cruise on Assist and Active, other than the hands-free function with eye tracking and the GPS geo-fencing feature. Beyond that, I don't think you get much else other than more ultrasonic sensors that enable autonomous parking.

Future blue-cruise updates may open up other features like auto lane change and adaptive speed control, which don't seem all that important for me.

From what I am reading and have seen I agree, I was going to do the platinum but now I think the Lariat Plus with Power boards will be all the options I will ever care about. Especially since it does at least have the B&O which I think is comparable to my partners MME Premium....

It may not matter to you, but the 15.5" screen is also very nice. That is where I'm at between the XLT and the Lariat - 15.5" screen, leather and clue cruise. It is a hard decision.

I am on the fence between the 2 as well (leaning XLT), but for very different reasons. I actually prefer the 12" with physical HVAC controls.

The things I most want in the Lariat are

- cooled seats
- tailgate light bar
- Wireless phone charging
- more premium steering wheel
- Nicer sound system (this one barely makes the list)

Leather seats I could take or leave. The cloth seats look pretty nice in the XLT pictures going around.

Don't base your decision on the size of the screen. On Mustang Mach-E, the bottom 1.5" is taken up by the glued on volume dial (I think it's ugly and pointless), A/C controls, etc. I think with 12", these will be physical controls. So you are really comparing 12" to 13" screens. From the pictures I've seen the big screen is better integrated into the dash than on MME. As best as I can tell, the big difference between the 2 screens is that one is oriented vertically, while the other horizontally. I expect that I will be OK with either one.

Wireless phone charging on MME is nothing to write home about. It's slow, makes your phone hot, and my phone doesn't fit in when in its case. For short trips, I just leave it in my pocket and for longer trips I intend to use a cable to keep it charged,
