Hey everyone,

I'm trying to fix an issue on my Lightning where pulling up to an obstacle at low speed (like when parking) triggers the flat, full-screen blue proximity/sonar graphic overview (showing the color-coded sensor waves) instead of automatically pulling up the live 360/front camera view. A while back, it used to bring up the camera automatically, but stopped doing it at some point (likely after an OTA update). I know I can just push the button, but i much prefer to just have the camera come up by default.

I've been digging through FORScan, but I'm stuck. Here is what I've checked and tried so far:

  • The Hardware: My truck has the physical Park Assist button on the dash, so Full Active Park Assist is enabled in the APIM.
  • Park Aid Accessory Mode: Toggling this between Enabled and Disabled in the APIM text menu didn't change the behavior.
  • The Culprit?: When checking my APIM Module Configuration text menu, I noticed that 360 Camera View Format was throwing an error: Incorrect value or not configured (sitting on value 3).
Has anyone run into this specific software mismatch after recent OTAs? I have a feeling my APIM As-Built lines or my IPMA strategy might be misaligned, preventing the camera from taking priority over the sensor graphic.

I am including snapshots of my APIM am IMPA settings. If anyone has the exact As-Built hex values that force the camera to override the proximity screen, I’d love to know what lines to check. Thanks in advance!

The IPMA would be the module that would have an issue if it isnt working ever.. Mine takes a while to finally display the front cam.

THere are three spots that can affect the Camera displaying in the IPMA

706-01-01
XXXX AXXX XXxx

706-12-01
XXXX X8XX XXxx 4 if a 22-23 not updated to the latest

706-16-01
XXXC XXXX XXxx B if 22-23

You can try them either way wont hurt.. Since I dont have specifics

Big thanks! All I had to do was change:

706-12-01
From:
XXXX X4XX XXxx
to:
XXXX X8XX XXxx

My '22 Lariat already had:

706-01-01
XXXX AXXX XXxx
and
706-16-01
XXXB XXXX XXxx

What does the park assist button do? I have a 24 Lariat and thought it would steer me into a parking spot. I forgot what it did when I pushed it. I know it's useless. Could it be set to do something with FScan?

On mine, the button prompts you start the automated hands off parking process. You select how to park, turn on the blinker, and shift to park after the system identifies a parking spot. Then it does the rest. I have used this maybe one time, just to show off, but otherwise, not very useful.

Ford killed off park assist I think in ‘24. It requires additional ultrasonic sensors on the sides of the bumpers and those aren’t populated on lower trims and anything after ‘23. If you don’t have park assist the button would take you to the navigation screen and do a search for parking. I haven’t tried it lately so I’m not sure if that is still the case.

Yes, I noticed my 24 has only 4 sensors on the bumpers, but none on the sides. Raw deal!
