My lower air dam came off on one side and was dragging on the ground. Has anyone had this covered under warranty?

Hello, I was getting off the freeway in my 2023 XLT with 40k miles, and I started hearing a dragging noise. I pulled over and found the right side of the lower actuating air dam was disconnected and dragging on the ground. I tie wrapped it to keep it off the ground and brought it to the dealer, and they said it was not covered by my extended warranty because it looks damaged. I believe it looks damaged because it fell off and was dragging on the ground. Has anyone had this happen, and was able to get it covered under warranty? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No, but or buddy from the North Country that produces Trucked Up EVs took his off in preparing his truck for off roading and tested the before and after for efficiency. The results showed it made no difference so it would be cheaper to remove the other side and be done with it. And no it did not through any codes.

This. Dispatched a raccoon some months ago and lost my active air dam. I haven’t observed any noticeable loss of efficiency or additional cabin noise.

I have heard this is a common issue with most F-150 trucks that have it installed--not just Lightnings. I intentionally took mine off and installed a front hitch. It would have been coming off anyway because of the reports about it being easily damaged. I am guessing some of the reason it exists is because it was supposed to help ICE engine trucks with efficiency. I have seen more/less no effect with it removed. There are several videos online on how to remove it. It's just two actuators which are bolted to the frame and the air dam piece itself. In total I think I removed something like a total of 6 bolts for the two actuators. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes of work to remove it all if you do it yourself. A local garage could put it on a lift and take it all off in way less time.

Yes I got mine covered under the original bumper to bumper warranty. Mine got snagged on one side and wouldn’t retract.

I believe it’s covered under warranty, unless there’s a physical damage.
