Sorry, should have updated... USAA gave me a generous settlement, enough to purchase an almost identical '22 Pro and have a little left over. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.
I don't know what to expect from USAA but that's a good starting point... just find me another PRO. They have yet to reply with $$ figures but I would expect/hope that the recent price increases will affect their offer. In the meantime, I'm doing my own "replacement cost" research.
It was a surprisingly smooth ride. The truck slowly did a 180 and ended up headed in the opposite direction as in the photo. Evidence of the good ride... no airbags deployed!
Don't have any good photos unfortunately. The missing wheel with part of the trailing arm and the axle is about 40 yards up the road. The frame is definitely bent in the area of the missing wheel and, according to the inspection, in three other places. The inspection report lists $37K in repairs...
The accident: early morning on a narrow country road, the driver of opposite direction traffic fell asleep and drifted into my lane. I saw her coming and headed for the weeds trying to get away but she kept coming and clipped my left rear. The impact broke off the wheel/trailing arm/axle and...
Has anybody found a "just the switch" solution for those of us who already have an "essentials" subpanel? IOW, I don't need the "10 branch circuit spaces", already have them... just need the three pole switch.
Here are a couple of those threads that I found helpful...

Excellent, thank you Kevin!
- This transfer switch would take care of the GFCI issue when powering the subpanel with the truck, right?
- And it would let me pick truck or generator as the source of power for the 30A leg powering the subpanel? If truck, it would fix the bonded neutral issue...
Thanks, I think I understand what you are suggesting... in addition to the mechanical interlock that currently switches the source to the subpanel between power from the main panel and power from the generator, I would install a second manual transfer switch between the two panels that would...
So you don't make a "bigger" switch that would handle my setup?
Do you know of a switch that would and that doesn't also have a bunch of it's own circuits?
I understand if you don't want to address that second question.
Thanks Kevin @EZ Generator Switch
Kevin, I have a very hard time understanding all this bonded neutral / floating neutral / grounding stuff. I went to your website and was very impressed with the FAQ page. where you do a great job of making it understandable. Thank you.
So now I'm wondering whether your have a product that...
Where does the energy come from if I ask the truck to precondition during an on-peak time?
- Plugged in at 16:15 during PM off-peak hours
- Truck charged until 17:00, which is the end of the PM off-peak hours
- Truck resumed charging at 21:00, the beginning of night time off-peak
- Charged...
Thank you. I'll try the same experiment but it will have to wait until next week as I'm off-peak all weekend. Off-peak, FP is happy to have my HomeFlex charger do the work. On-peak? Maybe not.
This is what it looked like last Sunday, all off-peak.
I've seen the same thing but on off-peak weekends. What's going to happen if I try to precondition during on-peak hours? Will FP allow the truck to draw 240V from the charger or will it refuse and draw from the battery?
Excellent question ... I'm trying to sort that out too.
One data point: my off-peak hours are 11am to 5pm AND 9pm to 7am. The other day I plugged in at about 3pm, FP dutifully started charging and estimated that I would reach 90% at about midnight. That estimate sounded about right IF charging...
