Yup! I never imagined an $80k truck would be a “good deal” but i think those of us who were able to get a 22MY and utilize both tax programs will probably be pretty close to coming out ahead.
I won’t save money on fueling since i was already driving a more efficient EV but compared to a...
I ended up getting the Ford aluminum roll up. Looks good, works good, easy to install. I’m sure you can get a BAK X2 for cheaper. They appear almost identical except for the logos. I had a bunch of ford pass points to use so i got the Ford version.
I’ll be interested to see pics from the meetup but it’s a no-go for me. We’re trying to get a New England/Northeast meetup going, possibly October so we can get as many 2022 deliveries as possible completed before the meet. Check out the New England regional subforum, if interested.
I took a 175 mile round trip today to drop the stepkid off at college. I used 55% of the battery, my math says that's about 320 for the full battery. The trip was about half state hwy (45-60mph) and half divided highway (65-80mph). All of my experience with the truck tells me 320 miles is a...
I have a friend looking at PHEVs and was told a 1yr+ wait for a Rav4 Prime. Two years for a Lightning seems alright in that context.
What are the projections for the final 2022 production?
Yes, DCFC is likely only cheaper in a small number of places that have per minute charging AND high residential electric rates. I just clicked through EA’s rate lookup. 16 states have per minute charging but it’s likely only MA and NH have residential rates high enough to make DCFC cheaper...
I’m curious because i’m going to do some efficiency testing and i want to be able to determine the losses during each charging session to a relatively accurate degree.
Oh, that’s cool that you can see what the truck is requesting. I really need to get that app.
Can it tell you how much energy the truck is using for the cooling system while charging?
I’ve been wondering what the real difference is. And what causes the degradation? Just heat? Would only charging for 5-8 minutes at a time reduce the degradation compared to a 30-40 minute charge less often? If you got a good charger 5-8 minutes will get you 30-50 miles. Plenty for most...
My app usually says 280-300 for 100% charge. Most of my recent driving has been highway. Probably >80% of all miles on the truck are highway because a large portion of the miles were from a road trip. My typical ratio is probably more like 60/40 hwy/city. Before I left on the 1600 mile...
In my experience the 350kW stations usually charge slower than the 150kw. I don't know why but the 150s have been way more stable and consistent for me. I don't bother with 350s anymore.
My charge on EA Sunday was $0.17/kwh, my all in home electric rate is $0.25/kwh. We have no off-peak rate here.
ETA: I mostly charge at work, for free, so it still doesn't make sense for me, usually. Although, once I realized that DCFC charging is cheaper here, I have shifted my thinking to...
