It seems that way, yes. I was going to come in here and post about it after my drive to work to test lane centering again since last night I couldn't get the truck to initiate LC with or without the seatbelt on, but a few others have confirmed the new IPMA disengages lane centering with the...
In all fairness: Using FORScan to make a little config change to enable or disable a feature is relatively safe. What the OP is doing here is a different animal.
@Ben21 I know you're relatively new here and do not know who is who, so some friendly advice from a perfect stranger on the internet: Take Jesse up on his offer.
I do not consider myself an expert at all with module programming of any kind. When people like Antho step in to lend a helping hand, I stay in my lane and let the gurus do what they do. Based on the limited knowledge I have of these things, this does not look to me like it failed due to the...
The truck needs to be hooked to up FDRS with a proper VCM (Mongoose or better). If the module is purple, it is bricked and a PMI needs to be done to it. There is no other alternative that I know of.
@Ben21 After carefully reading your post, your BCM is most likely bricked and will need to be recovered by FDRS. Hard to say if you will be able to do this yourself with a Mongoose since the BCM requires either a dealer login or an NFTSA password to update it.
What color is the BCM in the toolbox tab of FDRS?
Edit: Wait.....are you saying you were trying to update the BCM with FORScan and not FDRS when this happened?
No, it would need to be enabled with FORScan. If the IPMA gets updated manually by a dealer or a DIYer, they will not get the OTA. The server is not going to update a module that is already updated to the latest version.
This was the case for the new 7G Mustang until the BCM was updated. If you toggled it off, it would stop working unless you reverted everything with FORScan to disable WAL and then renabled it.
If the main goal of updating is to get the newer BC, then there is a risk associated with updating that module right now. It's a small risk, but it exists. If you're looking for a used Mongoose and you find a good deal, then buy it, but I would hold off. The fix requires unconventional methods...
EDIT: Disregard......IPMA is safe to update!
PSA: I recommend to not update the IPMA until further notice. While only a very small percentage of trucks are being affected, the ones that do get affected will lose lane centering and bluecruise indefinitely. At first, we thought the issue was only...
