Mostly while driving, because of the way the OTA triggers work. If you get sent an OTA now, it sits in your queue until you turn the ignition on or start the truck. That is what provides "consent" for the OTA to download and install. Since most people start their truck when they are going to...
Only APIM updates have a chance to give you a higher Sync version. Not every APIM update will give you a higher Sync version, but only APIM updates can give you a higher Sync version. The Sync version gives you a clue as to how old/new the software is. In your case, it is software from the 125th...
Screenshot of your OTA dashboard is below with your VIN blacked out for your privacy. Update failed due to a manifest mismatch. There is nothing you could have done differently....this OTA would have failed no matter what. It only took a minute from the time you started the truck for the update...
Post it or PM me if you prefer to keep it private. I will respond here either way so others can see what happened in case they experience something similar.
Ah. Looks like the OTA failed for some reason and the OTA trigger got canceled. Did they provide the error code as to why it failed? If they didn't and you want to know, I can check PTS for the OTA details with your VIN.
Figured I'd post this here, too, since the ICE and EV trucks seem to be synced up with updates now:
A member of f150forum recently installed the latest APIM update that gives you Sync 23237 on his truck with FDRS. As soon as he did, a TCU update popped up, which he did, as well. After talking...
The acronyms are for different modules in your truck. For example:
APIM: accessory protocol interface module
GWM: gateway module
TCU: telematics control unit
It's a lot to digest at first.
SOC is not a significant issue for this OTA or any OTA that can and will install while the truck is driving. It is the ones that only install while the vehicle is off and inhibited that fail due to low SOC.
That means the OTA trigger expired before the update was able to install. OTA triggers last 2 weeks and for an update that require the vehicle to be inhibited, it will last 30 days.
The timer does not start when the OTA trigger is sent to the vehicle. It starts when consent it given to install...
Is your truck already on Sync 23167?
Edit: A member if the ICE forums with a 2022 PowerBoost had a new APIM pop up in FDRS. He installed it last night and got this:
This means a new APIM OTA is right around the corner.
