Haha, true.
I will say, usually developers increment numbers when small changes or bugs are ironed out.
(TLDR; they number it like this to keep track of revision history and deployment for development purposes, organization, and troubleshooting)
For example:
With 4.2.2.1
The number 4 would...
I added this tailgate lock to my truck today. There have been tailgate thefts in my area, I wasn't too concerned about it, but for $22 now I'm not worried at all. It fit over my OEM Tailgate Dampner piece as well.

The screen you saw in your truck after 4.2.1 successfully updated was an error by Ford (confirmed). The update did install correctly, just left that phantom screen up.
So that specific connector actually looks exactly like what I used to plug in the SecuriCode plug. I didn't see any other "dummy" plugs in the door panel.
Scheduled updates are only for updates requiring your vehicle to be off. All these other updates will download and be applied whether or not you have scheduled updates configured and whether or not you have Automatic Updates on.
This is another update, in conjunction with the most recent 4.2.1, (not the one that came up before March) to assist with Modem connectivity issues. Nothing else was added AFAIK.
Accidently discovered a nifty shortcut today. Entering my code a second time within a short period of time, opens the frunk.

On a dry day, spray some WD-40 on the air dam tracks. Others have had success with that. If it decrease the error from daily to once a week it might be worth it.
If it is 2022 model then the issue should not be the same as the fire at the plant/recent recall. Hopefully it's a quick fix, it's nice that they proactively reached out to you.
If you have no plans to upgrade your panel, or use the whole home backup, get rid of it. It is buggy and the CCS plug is bulky and annoying. Sell it on eBay or elsewhere and get yourself a good quality EVSE (I've been recommending Emporia to anyone that asks) that is reliable. You'll be happier...
Well, on the heels on 4.2.1, I recieved 4.2.1.2.
After 4.2.1, I had an issue where the truck thought it was in a different Timezone (+2 hours ahead of me in PDT) for all charging and conditioning related settings. I deleted all my charge and conditioning settings, reconfigured them, and haven't...
Here's a good quote from a similar article with more details (for the TLDR crowd):
"According to the federal agency, “when the vehicle’s high voltage battery is at a high state of charge, the vehicle could experience an internal short circuit in the battery which could result in a fire,” adding...
Multiple people have reported receiving 2 of the 4.2.1 updates, and they seem to do different things. There was one that went out 2+weeks ago, and then the was one referenced in this thread. That description seems like the other, earlier, one.
The 4.2.1 in this thread, with the connectivity...
