The pickup truck crowd is probably the most difficult to convince to go EV. But it’s mainly because of all the intentional misinformation being spread about EVs. It’s intended to divide us against each other and it’s being pushed by lobbyists from the oil and gas industry, auto mechanics groups...
Thinking selfishly for a moment, I’m unsure if this news means my Lightning will be worth less money or more money after Jan 1 2025. Thinking bigger, I really hope Ford doesn’t discontinue the Lightning entirely. If they had trouble selling these WITH the tax credits then I’m not sure how this...
Got it. I am admittedly a total novice when it comes to towing anything substantial, so when I saw he was towing 11k pounds with just a ball hitch and 1k pounds on the receiver I was surprised it was fine. I have the max tow Lightning so in theory it can carry 10k/1k due to the extra battery...
I realize this is an older thread here but I just came across this because I bought a weigh safe drop hitch today. In doing so, I can across this JerryRig video of him pulling an 11,000lb trailer with the Lightning and WITHOUT a weight distribution hitch. Instead he balanced the trailer using...
I’m going to be going from a 275/60/20 to a 275/70/18 for winter and the difference in circumference is like 12mm bigger so I’m not sure if I need to change anything? I think it would make my speedometer like 0.5mph off. But unsure if I’ll bother with forscan or not.
Wait I got my math wrong. It looks like my stock tires (275/60/20) and the winter tires (275/70/18) are effectively the same height. Sorry for the dumb post here.
I tried searching various places but couldn’t find a definite answer unless I missed it. I’m looking to install 275/70/18 winter tires which are 34in compared to the stock 33in tires. I’d be using the same 11in width (Lariat) on the winters. Any issue with this? I know I’d also need to use...
Great review I can’t believe I read the whole thing lol. But it was really well written so thanks for that. After reading through it I’m still happy with the LER I have, but faster charging and another 80-100mi of range would be really nice. I’m certain the next gen Lightning will have faster DC...
If the truck falls apart around the battery pack in 15 years you at least have something like the equivalent of 10 tesla powerwalls to repurpose for home use perhaps. Then again, by that time we’re all supposed to have flying cars so who knows what battery tech awaits in the next decade.
Yeah it’s probably not just the reduced power that’s increasing efficiency then. But I agree we should have some kind of eco mode or, like how an iPhone has a “low power” mode. I just don’t know enough about what’s happening electronically when the truck is at 96% or 91% when the temps and SOC...
It’s been cold in MA where I live (around 30F) and my battery SOC has hovered around 50% the past couple days due to a lot of driving. I noticed the power dial on the left dipped to 96% which is expected. But what I also noticed is that my efficiency seems slightly better as a result. Before...
I still only have level 1 home charging at the moment (can’t precondition with level 1) and I park outside. Temps in the low 30s F and I’m seeing about the same efficiency around 1.8 but I keep my cabin heat a little cooler around 70F. Average commute speed around 60mph. In the first part of my...
