Do you EVER expect to need to charge your truck from a generator? If so, make sure it will work - especially with inverter based generators.
Although I don't really ever expect to need to charge my Lightning from my Honda 2.2 KW generator, I confirmed today that it does work - slowly. I have...
I discovered that the side mirrors are not made of glass and can be scratched somewhat easily.
Here's how I discovered this. I had put a convex stick on mirror onto the drivers side mirror, but did not like where I put it. As is normal, these are held on with double sided foam tape. The easy...
I had not noticed that A2Z had a J1772 extension cable. I have both the A2Z NACS to CCS-1 Supercharger adapter and their NACS to J1772 adapter. I would trust them completely for a J1772 extension cord. Don't really need it, but nice to know they have one...
For sure.
You are welcome. I really enjoy writing them up - even though it takes a fair amount of time.
I will likely have another one next week. Going out to Amboy Crater (and surrounding area) for the weekend.
Not all of the rest areas have them, but quite a few do. They are 50KW, but free. Each has a CCS-1 and a CHAdeMo connector. Here's the one at Coso Junction. Very south end of the rest area.
Yea, you take away Tesla, Rivian, and the CalTrans chargers and there is not much left!
Now, even with one of the two Tesla chargers in Inyokern and Bishop, there are plenty of charging options. And more supposed to be coming...
My android updated overnight. I do not have any PPO controls on the main screen.
The previously assigned name is showing correctly as is a full image of my truck.
Yep, pretty much the entire wheel and it heats up very quickly. OK, I'm in southern California so we don't really get COLD, but it sure is nice. First car I have had with a heated wheel and seats.
I have ABRP on my phone, but for all practical purposes have not used it. For my advanced planning, I use a combination of PlugShare.com, The FordPass (now just Ford) app, the Tesla app, the Rivian app, and the Electrify America app. In some cases I also checked with Google Street View to see...
Yes, that is correct. However for our purposes, a real V4 vs a V3.5 makes no difference. We're still gonna limit out to a little under 200KW rate because our our somewhat low battery voltage. Until we can get higher charge current, that is our limit. And as I understand it, the CCS-1...
No issues at all on a EV drive from the greater LA basin to Mammoth. There is fast charging from Tesla, Electrify America, and Rivian scattered all along the route. Then add the 50 KW charging at several rest stops, and Brady's just north of the 14 / 395 split. Once into the Hesperia area...
Every year I help support a five day bicycle ride from Big Bear to Mammoth Mtn in California. The 335 mile ride is a fund raiser for a charity in Big Bear. I also did a little GeoCaching along the way and more on the way to Big Bear and on the way home. This was the first year driving my...
I sleep with a CPAP that is AC powered. On the 5 day bike ride I support every year I just left the truck "on" for the couple of nights that I did not have shore power and had to power my CPAP from the truck. That worked fine. However it reminded me of this thread so I bought the short...
If you look in the FordPass app, it will show Tesla locations that are not open to us, but it will show as an incompatible charger. If you have your Lightning set up as your vehicle in the Tesla app, it will not even show SuperChargers that are not open to us.
Note, while verifying the exact...
Interesting to see that. I don't have a thermal camera, but a friend had a rather nice Flir camera that I have used a few times for similar projects - usually looking at electronic equipment.
As I said, unless the image was cut off. I just did a similar search and there are three in southern California and and handful in the San Francisco to Sacramento area. One of the SoCal locations is about 15 minutes from my home (not that I normally fast charge near home). I'll have to keep...
I will say this much. I also signed up for EAP and never got any ACK, but I have since had several interactions that involved EAP - so obviously I am part of the program. All I will say is that I have been very pleased with those interactions. Anything beyond that would violate the NDA.
