I believe so. It was one of the reasons I decided to purchase it along with the giant screen I use daily that I never want to pay to replace.

Seems like pretty cheap insurance for that stuff. How many miles did you get it for? Originally I thought I’d do 100,000 but now I’m thinking maybe more just in case I keep not longer

Just brought a new Lightning home and am a little sick to my stomach as I begin to understand what I've just opted myself into. Great to mostly sidestep that $5K scam, I mean bill. All that said, does the EBay replacement assembly come with its own sensors/ electronics? Was the successful procedure to swap back to the originals or to go with what came with the lens? Thank you.

The Ebay assembly I bought did have its own sensor, but the truck did not recognize it and threw an error disabling all the proximity goodness. Solution for me was to swap the sensors. I did not contact the dealer to see if or how much they would charge to program a new sensor.

I did this also. Used my original sensor, installed it into the lens housing I got from EBay, and everything worked with no programming or issues.

I have replaced the sensor in mine and its a pretty simple vin write to the sensor that you can do in ForScan. Unfortunately I cracked my driver's side loading some things in the bed. But i am a cheap ass and a DIYer to the core. So I made a sheet metal corner for the light assembly and painted it flat black and I can't see the difference at all going down the road (not from the drivers seat anyway lol). Its noticeable, but doesn't stand out.

My purpose for the comment is to so see if anyone has made a mold and cast their own entirely. Before everyone goes bananas about what can and can't be done. I didn't say i would be successful, but I am thinking about trying it. Again, before anyone goes crazy, please know that I successfully made molds and cast the clear headlight lens for a Pontiac Solstice (they're pretty big for those who are unaware and it wasn't easy). Just seeing if anyone has attempted this at all?

I just did the $650 ($690 taxes and shipping) from eBay. Totally legit ford parts, stickers, labels the works. This is the 2nd I have replaced, 1st was from Ford, $2200 without the radar. This one had the radar but was not working. Swapped in my old radar attend, all good.

The only assemblies I see on Ebay are knock-offs from China. (One graphic misspelled "Waterproof".) What vendor did you buy yours from?

and for those following an have an opinion - should I pull the blind spot detector to keep it from getting wet while I find an assembly to install it into? I guess I could tape it up, but that looks so terrible.

I’d remove the BSW module until u find a tail lamp replacement.
