I was looking for a list of reservations for Lightning and found it here. I recently received an email from Ford that I was not in the first wave. I thought my reservation was low enough but what's done is done. Does anyone know the prioritization process? My number is 10814477. If the numbers I saw on the list were sequential it seems like that would be maybe 4477 in line. It was made by me on 5/19/2021. I completed the form to be added to the forum reservation list. When I asked the dealer, I was told my sales person retired the end of December and all their 2022 allotment was taken. I hadn't heard from anyone until they answered my email yesterday. Does that sound normal? Thanks.

Well, you aren't alone on this (we have someone reserved within 15 minutes of open booking, but still miss the bus somehow)

Your eventual conversion depends on several key factors

1. Are you in a ZEV State (such as California)?

It's pretty much confirmed that ZEV state will receive a lot more first year production of F150L.

2. How big is your Dealer?

It's also confirmed that every dealer will receive different number of allocation, bigger dealer will receive more allocation (could be a bad thing also since more reservation will be submitted).

3. Does your Dealer prioritize?

Each dealer can prioritize up to 5 VIP customer (before any time stamp calculate in) , the sad part is some dealer will only receive 5 F150L this year , if they uses all the Prioritize stamp, you just wont get the opportunity, no matter how early you reserve your truck.

As a small business owner, we understand the importance of those VIP customers (customer won't budge much, and keep doing business with you). Allocation/Prioritize ratio should've been implemented to make things slightly more balanced.

4. Is your dealer in good stand?

We've heard stories on dealer having employees reserve all the F150L within minutes (then flip with ADMs) , in those cases good luck on getting one.

we would all think that the 'number' gives you your place in 'line', but Ford doesn't use that same process - they have DEALERS who are part of the prioritization process, and it looks like each dealer has their own 'prioritization' for it's own customers, as well. There is little ryhme or reason if you are trying to figure this out on your own - you're right, what's done is done. Good, or bad, all any of us can do is wait. But, it's hard : /

Thanks for the confirmation. Things against me could be:

I'm in Michigan.
The dealer was bought out last year by a mega dealer.
The sales person assigned to me retired in December.

Fortunately, I already enjoy the EV experience, so letting someone else have a shot at it first is ok. I would just like transparency.

The reservation numbers are not consecutive. Although it seems counter intuitive, your reservation number does not imply a specific spot in line. For example, one might assume reservation "10" was placed before reservation "11," but that's not the case. The reservation numbers can only be decoded or interpreted by Ford.

Did your dealer say how many people were ahead of you? I had a similar reservation number (10814xxx) and i was 8th in line at my dealer in MA. I got a wave 3 invite.

You don't mention the timestamp for your reservation, that is what's used by Ford to prioritize (absent a dealer prioritization list), not the reservation number.

Thanks for all the input. I'll look for the time stamp. My request was in the first hours, but I guess that is not any guarantee. It is certainly more confusing than Tesla. I am not convinced at this point that dealers are a value to this particular process, while they may provide other value in the retail sale.

If anyone would like, I have close to 50,000 miles of EV driving, mostly long haul trips between the tips of Florida, Louisiana and Michigan. Is there a forum where I could share my advice?
