Is it possible that with the chip shortage that manufacturers are choosing to do things that they ordinarily would NOT do, like change suppliers or sources for parts midstream in a model year that does indeed present some of these unintended consequences?
Imagine the pressure on the procurement team to FIND components to keep these production lines moving at at least some pace? Afterall, chip shortages are currently forcing manufacturers to remove options from vehicles just to get them built.
You can order an $80,000 Denali right now but you CAN'T get heated seats. Imagine that for a second. What an amazing example of what manufacturers are up against.
I'm not saying that's the reason for things that don't make sense regarding this thread. But I bet someone at Ford could field your questions and reply with an explanation for all this incompatibility.
